the belief that universe is
illogical and senseless, and
that the search for order
brings the individual into
conflict with the universe.

 * Meaning : Absurdism means the internal conflict
between human tendency to find the inherent
value and the meaning of life and his inability to
find any.
 Life is meaningless
 No values
 World is fighting and illogical

Why Theater of Absurd came to be?
- Atrocities and catastrophes of the WW2, was thought to be
an influential event that caused the movement to come
about. In adition to that, everyday life can be described as
an absurd and meaningless during WW2.
- The rejection and decline of Religion and religious faith.
- Strolling towards individualism, with cultural and moral
independence.












Theater of Absurd
- “Theater of absurd” is a term coined
by Hungarian-burn critic Martin
Esslin.
- It starts in the late 1950s by a number
of European playwrights such as
Samuel Beckett, Eugene Lonescu, Jean
Genet..ect.

How was the Theater of Absurd :
Plot
- It focuses on the idea of meaningless of life; therefore,
everything in life is subjected to question including the
existence of God.
- It has puzzling dialogues with nonsense language.
- The principles of cause and effect are unavailable.

Language
- The language has no value in
communication, and often
illogical.
- The dialogues are covered with
repetitions.

Repetition
Absurdsim plays are full of repetitions not only
in dialogue, but its nature has a cyclical structure.

- Timing
- Similar constractions of acts
- Same acts endings
- Same dialogues

