Abstract of Unit Plan:
The Canterbury Tales

Monday: objective is to learn the basic information surrounding the time period of the Middle-
Ages as well as Geoffrey Chaucer’s life aside from his authorship. This objective will be
achieved by the end of the Monday, which includes the use of a Facebook page dedicated to the
Middle-Ages with the use of the tool Digital Imaging apparent on throughout this page, a short
fictional play based in the Middle-Ages, a song/slideshow video on YouTube that depicts
Chaucer’s life, and a blog dedicated to elaborating the information in the video in the teaching of
the material.
Tuesday: objective is to understand what iambic pentameter, rhyming couplets, and satirical
wit are as literary terms and apply them correctly in the homework. This objective will be
achieved by the end of Tuesday, and it includes the use of the Art & Bot created in the CI350
class, viewing a wikispace, watching a video, and the students actively participating on Twitter
in the teaching of the material.
Wednesday: objective is to be placed in groups for Chaucerian pilgrimage and complete the
Prologue as well as create an individual character/back story. This objective will be achieved by
the end of Wednesday, and it includes the use of the Media & Materials (Poster) tool and a
documentation of progress using Microsoft Word in the teaching of this material. Zello will be
introduced as a means for a quick response, and the link to the Facebook page dedicated to the
project will be given to students. Podcast of basic information and goal in class will be placed
on the project Facebook page.
Thursday: objective is to complete individual character tales through applying the literary
terms from Tuesday correctly and revising the group’s Chaucerian pilgrimage as a whole. This
will be achieved by the end of Thursday, and will include the use of the tools Youtube &
Storytelling, Arts & Bots, PowerPoint or Prezi, Microsoft Word, Digital Imaging, and Media &
Material (Poster) in teaching the material. Podcast of the basic information and goal in class will
be placed on the project Facebook page.
Friday: objective is to present completed creation of Chaucerian pilgrimage, turn in an official
word document of pilgrimage and project will be posted to the Facebook page, and ultimately
conclude that the students can correctly understand and apply The Canterbury Tales content and
use of literary terms. This will be achieved by the end of Friday, and will include whatever
technological tools the students chose from Thursday’s class to present their project.

  • 1. Abstract of Unit Plan: The Canterbury Tales By Sarah Goddard Monday: objective is to learn the basic information surrounding the time period of the Middle- Ages as well as Geoffrey Chaucer’s life aside from his authorship. This objective will be achieved by the end of the Monday, which includes the use of a Facebook page dedicated to the Middle-Ages with the use of the tool Digital Imaging apparent on throughout this page, a short fictional play based in the Middle-Ages, a song/slideshow video on YouTube that depicts Chaucer’s life, and a blog dedicated to elaborating the information in the video in the teaching of the material. Tuesday: objective is to understand what iambic pentameter, rhyming couplets, and satirical wit are as literary terms and apply them correctly in the homework. This objective will be achieved by the end of Tuesday, and it includes the use of the Art & Bot created in the CI350 class, viewing a wikispace, watching a video, and the students actively participating on Twitter in the teaching of the material. Wednesday: objective is to be placed in groups for Chaucerian pilgrimage and complete the Prologue as well as create an individual character/back story. This objective will be achieved by the end of Wednesday, and it includes the use of the Media & Materials (Poster) tool and a documentation of progress using Microsoft Word in the teaching of this material. Zello will be introduced as a means for a quick response, and the link to the Facebook page dedicated to the project will be given to students. Podcast of basic information and goal in class will be placed on the project Facebook page. Thursday: objective is to complete individual character tales through applying the literary terms from Tuesday correctly and revising the group’s Chaucerian pilgrimage as a whole. This will be achieved by the end of Thursday, and will include the use of the tools Youtube & Storytelling, Arts & Bots, PowerPoint or Prezi, Microsoft Word, Digital Imaging, and Media & Material (Poster) in teaching the material. Podcast of the basic information and goal in class will be placed on the project Facebook page. Friday: objective is to present completed creation of Chaucerian pilgrimage, turn in an official word document of pilgrimage and project will be posted to the Facebook page, and ultimately conclude that the students can correctly understand and apply The Canterbury Tales content and use of literary terms. This will be achieved by the end of Friday, and will include whatever technological tools the students chose from Thursday’s class to present their project.
