The push for smaller electromechanical devices has led to the development of microscale combustion to provide portable power sources through hydrogen and hydrocarbon fuel combustion. Microscale combustion offers high energy density to power micro unmanned aerial vehicles, satellites, and sensors. These combustion-based micropower generators can be manufactured using microelectromechanical systems at low cost and mass produced. This seminar will focus on technological challenges in microscale combustion and review systems under development, including methods to improve hydrogen combustor performance.

The economics of rural electrification has dramatically changed in the last few years. Fuel prices remain volatile and the technology has improved. In the past, the only economically viable options were grid extension and diesel generators. Now there is a wide range of renewable and hybrid options that are not only technically mature and reliable, but also cost-effective.
This webinar will use results from NREL’s HOMER® modeling software to illustrate the conditions under which different electrification models are most appropriate. In addition to diesel generators and grid extension, the webinar will discuss business models distributing individual systems, such as solar home systems and solar lanterns. The main focus will be on hybrid renewable mini-grids that can range from a few kWs to tens of MWs. It will compare the economics of solar and wind and the impact of different penetrations rates.

These conditions are better fulfilled by the microturbines compared to the conventional Reciprocat ing Engines,Gas turbines,Coal fired steam engines etc.

individual customers. Increasing environmental concerns, consumer expectations in terms of reliability &
better quality of power supply and improving economics of distributed energy resources (DER) based on
renewable, is making Micro Grid a viable proposition. Present electrical distribution system offers many
technical & operational glitches for successful integration of Micro Grid Technologies. Modern Power systems
are smart, interconnected, interdependent, load sharing and phased mission systems. Micro grids are
composed by distributed generators, energy storage devices, intelligent circuit breakers and local loads. In
this paper, a review of the main micro grid architectures proposed in the literature has been carried out. The
micro grid architectures are first classified regarding their AC or DC distribution buses. Besides, more
complex micro grid architectures will be discussed. Both advantages and disadvantages of each one of the
micro grid families will be discussed.

A new small gas turbine technology is being developed which promises to bring the economic,environmental and convenience benefits,advancements in the automotive sector,generation of electricity and mechanical power needs of the commercial sector. The technol ogy is of the microturbines.The micro turbine is an example of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems,w hich is efficiently used to develop power at a small scale. Microturbines are small combustion turbines appr oximately the size of a refrigerator with outputs of 25 kW to 500 kW. Microturbines are part of the future of onsit e,or distributed energy and power generation. They are actually single shaft machines,in which turbine,compressor and generator are mounted on the single shaft. This unit can be used for distributed power,stand-alone power,stand-by power and vehicle application like turbocharger. The commercial customer requirement for small prime movers are that they be very cleans (low NOx,CO and unburned hydroc arbons),of better efficiency than the reciprocating engines,require infrequent maintenance,have a very low forced outage rate and of course be of low installed cost so as to provide rapid payback for the owner. These conditions are better fulfilled by the microturbines compared to the conventional Reciprocat ing Engines,Gas turbines,Coal fired steam engines etc.

Many lives could have been saved if emergency service could get accident information and
reach in time. Our project will provide an optimum solution to this draw back. A piezo electric
sensor can be used as a crash or rollover detector of the vehicle during and after a crash. With
signals from a piezo electric sensor, a severe accident can be recognized. According to this
project when a vehicle meets with an accident immediately piezo electric sensor will detect the
signal or if a car rolls over. Then with the help of GSM module and GPS module, the location
will be sent to the emergency contact. Then after conforming the location necessary action will
be taken. If the person meets with a small accident or if there is no serious threat to anyone’s
life, then the alert message can be terminated by the driver by a switch provided in order to
avoid wasting the valuable time of the medical rescue team.
