This document summarizes two studies. The first study evaluated the sedimentation process of cassava starch in rectangular channels used in Colombian agriculture. It found that the slurry concentration during operation was usually between 0.1-6% and that discrete particle settling predominated. Particles between 6.7-8.8um were discharged into local water bodies, causing environmental issues. The second study analyzed Spanish adolescents' sexual practices and protection methods depending on their age of sexual debut. It found that debut before 15 was associated with increased risk of infection, less condom use, and more sexual partners.
