Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 and worked on his father's farm until age 23 when he became a soldier. He married Mary Todd at age 33 and was elected President in 1860. A civil war broke out between northern and southern states over slavery. Lincoln declared all slaves free in 1862 and was assassinated on April 14, 1865, leaving a legacy of fighting for justice, truth and equality.
