NSWA was established in 1996 in Jammu region of India to represent students and communities. It aims to support rural development through programs in education, healthcare, children's welfare, vocational training, the environment, sports, culture, and more. The founder was moved by the plight of rural people and established NSWA to empower rural communities. NSWA started as the Students Welfare Association of Bhalessa and has since expanded to the national level. It organizes mass programs in various fields and has headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir as well as regional offices elsewhere. NSWA is committed to overall rural development in India through social services, child welfare, empowering women and rural education.
