This document is a paper arguing against abortion from a Catholic perspective. It begins by outlining the controversial nature of abortion and how it is currently banned in Costa Rica except when the mother's life is at risk. It then discusses arguments for legalizing abortion, such as a woman's right to choose, as well as arguments against it from a Catholic viewpoint that abortion is akin to murder. I. Introduction.
Thesis statement: Abortion is a very controversial topic in our society. In some
countries you are allowed to abort if you want or if it is necessary. But in Costa
Rica it is forbidden unless the mother life’s is in danger. Many people
considered abortion as murder. Although some might say abortion is justifiable
and some others believe that no one has the right to take someone’s life
instead of God.
II. Should abortion be legalized?
 Women have the right to choose what to do with their body.
 Banning abortion risks illegal abortions.
 Abortion gives women the option to minimize their child’s suffering.
III. Catholic’s church is against abortion.
 Abortion is a sin and it is considered as a murder.
 God is the only one who can take someone’s life.
 For the church is morally wrong to take others life, whether born or
unborn.
IV. Is abortion moral or immoral?
 Killing is totally immoral even more if are children.
 Fetuses have the right to life.
 Abortion is your choice.

Abstract
Abortion is a process in which a fetus is killed. Some people say that this practice
must be forbidden, others think that this must be legalized. With an issue like
abortion, there is a difficulty in determining if it right or wrong. There are many
sides and arguments to this matter. Supporters do not consider an unborn child as
a person, so for them abortion is not a crime. But for some other people abortion is
killing a person who cannot protect himself. The fetus must be protected for women
but in our society is more important to preserve a good body than a life. Nowadays
we do not care about the preservation of life, we are a superficial society. There is
also the Catholic’s church point of view; they consider the abortion as a sin which
cannot be forgiven – it is murder-. They also said that God is the only one who can
decide when someone´s die.

Nowadays in our society everything is right, we are trying to create an
opened mind generation who the only thing that will give us is a fight between
moral and immoral acts with the absence of the value of life. An abortion is the
ending of pregnancy before birth which results in the death of an embryo or a fetus.
Abortion is a very controversial topic in our society. In some countries you are
allowed to abort if you want or if it is necessary. But in Costa Rica it is forbidden
unless the mother life’s is in danger. Many people considered abortion as murder.
Although some might say abortion is justifiable and some others believe that no
one has the right to take someone’s life instead of God.
Many women’s movements are trying to legalized abortion. They all say
that every single woman in the world has the right to choose if they want to carry a
child for nine months or if they do not want. But of course that is selfish decision,
because they are just thinking in themselves not in the life that they are switching
off. Most of women who encourage this practice are young and irresponsible and
they use the abortion as a way to escape from a mistake and that error is a baby’s
life. Supporters say that an unborn baby has no rights so abortion cannot be
considered as homicide but the reality is that we are a blind society who lets
people killed others simply because they are not born. Women is supposed to
protect their children with their own life but as we can daily see this is a practice of
the past. Nowadays children have to fight for survive in a society who tear them
apart.

Another point that we can considered is the one from the Catholic’s
church. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith affirms that the Church
teaches us: "Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the
creative action of God and it remains forever in a special relationship with the
Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its
end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to
destroy an innocent human being" (“The gift of life”, p5). Then with the quote we
can realize that the church is against abortion, so many of us are also against. Is
not because the bible says that, is because we have grown up with those values
and no one can change that. The church also teach us that the only one who has
the power of take a life is God, because as he gives life he can also take it back. It
is like the natural cycle of life with no human interference.
As I said before abortion is a very controversial topic, because there is a
fight between morality and immorality. Many people claim that it is a selfish and
immoral act, because many women kill infant children because mostly they just
didn't want them. Only less than one percent of women who get abortions are
because of rape and even that is terrible. Others claim that is a right for women to
make a choice but if they cannot prevent an unwanted pregnancy, how would they
decide over someone else’s life? Some others say that if the woman is in danger
the abortion should be a totally moral option and in this case no one can reply
against. But this is not about if it is moral or not, it is about a person’s life and you
should think in that.
In conclusion we can say that abortion is completely based on personal
opinion and views. And as human beings, we have to respect the opinions of other

people. As well we can affirm that many of those who choose abortions are often
minors or young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what
they are doing. Many have lifelong regrets afterwards. So we can recommend the
adoption as a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. And
with many families wanting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted
child. Look for other options instead of killing a child, it does not matter if the law
does not take a fetus as a person you should. To finish we must say that it is
necessary to change our behavior before the abortion or rather a murder
disguised.
