Abdominal tuberculosis is an infection that can affect the abdominal organs like intestines or abdominal cavity. It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and spreads through the bloodstream or lymph nodes from active tuberculosis in the lungs or other parts of the body. Symptoms can include abdominal pain, weight loss, fever and formation of tubercles or tuberculous granulomas in the infected abdominal organs that can lead to intestinal obstruction if left untreated.
