This document is a collection of poems and songs intended to teach English to first grade students. It covers the alphabet, counting, colors, family members, school, and saying please and thank you. Each section introduces new vocabulary through simple rhyming words and repetitive phrases to aid in language acquisition for young learners.

C is for cat
It is climbing the tree

It is in my bag.

I is for I.
I am at home…

7. J is for jug
K is for king
L is for lion
It can’t be pink.

8. M is for Mum
N is for nose
O is for orange
We like it, you know.

9. P is for pen
Q is for queen
R is for red
And not for green

10. S is for sea
T is for tea
U is for under,
but not for me.

11. V is in five and in seven,
It is in twelve and in eleven.

12. W is for Willy and also for why.
Why do you cry Willy,
Why do you cry?

13. X is in six.
Y is for yes
Z is for zoo.
It is the end.

14. I can name the vowels for you
A, E, I, O, U
A, E, I, O, U
A, E, I, O, U
and you can name them too!

15. Hello, Hello, Hello
And how are you?
I'm fine. I'm fine,
And I hope that you are too!

16. What is your name?
How old are you?
Where do you live?
And what do you do?

17. I love colours,
Yes I do!
Red, orange,
Green and blue.
I love colours
Dark or bright,
Yellow, purple,
Black and white.

18. I’ve got a father,
I’ve got a mother,
I’ve got a sister,
I’ve got a sister,
Father, mother,
sister, brother,
Hand in hand
With one another.

19. Families are people
Who care about you.
My family is special-
Your family is too.
Mothers and fathers,
And sisters and brothers,
Grandmas and grandpas,
And so many others.

20. One, one, one,
I love the sun.
Two, two, two
I love my mummy, too.
Three, three, three
My mummy loves me.
Four, four, four
I love her more and more.

21. We can read
We can write
We can speak English too.
We love learning English
And what about you?

22. I think first grade is fun.
My teacher says I’m number one.
She says she loves us all
Whether we are short or small.

23. School times are over.
School times are done.
We’ve had a lot of learning,
We’ve had a lot of fun.
We’ll say goodbye to teachers,
We’ll put our books away,
Our school year is over now,
It’s summertime- let’s play!
