“Irrigation Without Irritation”
Wroot water has been established to offer a unique Irrigation Service to
farmers and growers. We provide specialist advice on all types of irriga-
tion systems to suit customer’s individual requirements.
Our systems include various types of Drip
irrigation, Solid set sprinklers and K-Line
irrigation.Wroot Water specialises in agriculture
based Drip Irrigation and Sprinkler irrigation
Systems. We offer a full field mapping system
design for every field as well as installation and
maintenance plans once irrigation systems are in
place. We provide the complete Irrigation System
including:
• Clean and dirty water pumps
• Control systems
• Weather monitoring equipment
• Water meter testing
• UV water treatment
• K-Line irrigation
• Energy efficient variable speed drives for
Pumps
• Bio Bed Kits (meeting all environmental and
defray standards)
The table illustrates differences in energy costs
between various types of irrigation and results are
based on electricity at £0.14 per KWH. The table
compares the cost per 25mm per Ha applied:
(energy cost may vary).
System
Time to apply
25mm per Ha £/Ha
Hose Reel – Rain Gun 5hr 9.50
Hose Reel – Boom 5hr 7.60
Sprinkler 5hr 3.80
Drip-Trickle 5hr 0.90
Hose Reel / Rain Gun 10 bar, Hose Reel / Boom 8
bar, Sprinklers 4 bar (could be lower) / Drip 0.8 bar
Both systems use water at a lower pressure reducing
the levels of energy required. The water is delivered
at a lower cost than irrigation systems that require
a higher pressure. Drip and sprinkler irrigation are
subsequently the most economical and efficient
forms of irrigation on the market.

Irrigation Systems
We have several Drip/Trickle Irrigation systems
available which need;
• A reliable water source (sufficient to grow a crop)
• A good filtration system to keep the Drip-pipe/Drip-
tape working correctly
• A series of pipes from the water source and pump to
the drip lines
• A design that meets daily water requirements
• A design that operates effectively and efficiently
Our unique automated systems are individually designed
to the grower’s specific requirements using GPS mapping.
Our bespoke systems vary in size from 10Ha to 100Ha plus.
All of our systems are water, energy and cost efficient. The
manufacturers we use are Rivulis t-tape and Toro aqua-
traxx.
Each automated system is controlled by a hand-held
controller. This allows the valves to be programmed into
a sequence; turning on and off independently depending
on the requirements of each crop. Water is applied directly
to the root of the crop enabling quicker maturity and
an increasingly better quality end crop. Once they have
been laid these systems manage themselves; no manual
labour is required until after harvest of the crop.A number
of agricultural and horticultural crops currently use drip
irrigation including; Potatoes, Carrots, Leeks, Parsnips,
Onions, Celery, Asparagus, Courgettes, Strawberries and
Raspberries.
The tape used for this irrigation process is available with a
range of emitter spacings and flow rates. The low flow tape
guarantees a gentle wetting of the soil structure around the
rooting system and the nature of the tape makes it suitable
for all soil types in particular those areas where access to
water is limited.Tape is buried approximately 1½ to 2 inches
below the surface; this can be done in tandem with planting
(A) or afterwards as a separate process (B).
These machines are available for hire or to buy
At the end of the season drip tape can be retrieved at the
same time as topping the crop using a front mounted flail.
The tape is collected into a bale which can be released at
the end of the field for disposal.Alternatively, hard-hose
irrigation hose can be pulled out from one end of the field
and stored on 4,500 metre rolls ready to be re-used.

Hard-hose irrigation hose can be used for drip irrigation and
can be re-used. At the end of the season, hard-hose can be
stored on 4,500 metre rolls ready to be used the following
year. Over time this makes hard-hose more cost effective
than standard drip tape.
Leachate Water Systems
Automated Systems
Hard Hose System
We have been involved with the treatment of leachate
and can provide systems. Please contact us for further
information.
We can supply a range of automated systems including
radio systems, manual handheld programmer and phone
applications.
How Drip
Irrigation works:
• Water is filtered using a sand media
filter, a disc filter, or a self-cleaning
screen filter. The type of filter used is
determined by the water source and
quality
• Water is transferred from the water
source to the field by underground
mains, aluminium pipes or lay-flat hose
• Black polyethylene pipe is used as a
header main and is made up to suit
bed size and crop spacing joined
together with Bauer couplings
• An Pressure Reducing Valve serves
one section of the field (usually around
4Ha) regulating the flow and reducing
the pressure of the water to that
required by the tape
• We use solenoid valves controlled
by radio receivers, manual handheld
programmers and phone applications.
Irrigation Systems

We have worked alongside our Spanish
suppliers developing the COVERLINE®
Sprinkler System for a number of years.
The system enables customers to begin
small scale ensuring low initial set-up
costs and systems can then be expanded
as each budget allows.
The Facts:
• COVERLINE® Sprinkler Systems operate at
a working pressure of 2.5 bar to 4 bar.
• The required pressure is determined by a
number of factors including;
• The type of sprinkler being used
• The distance between sprinklers in the line
• What the water source is
•	 The size of the area being watered and;
• The length of rows that the water has to
travel
• Sprinkler choice is entirely dependable on
individual crop watering requirements
• COVERLINE® Irrigation works well with all
types of soil and the control valve can be
set to operate at different rates to suit the
demand for water
• Similarly to drip irrigation, the COVERLINE®
system allows sprinklers to be split into
zones controlled by valves operated by
solenoids.
• Radio control units and a new GPRS control
system can be used with COVERLINE®
How it works:
• The COVERLINE® Irrigation System has a Header pipe
either in the centre of the field or at the field headland
depending on field size
• From the main Header Pipe off-takes are taken through
control valves into the COVERLINE® pipes which run within
the rows of crops. COVERLINE® pipes are manufactured
using high density polyethylene with aluminium
couplings
• A large range of fittings for Leverlock and Halfturn
couplings are available including elbows, tees, crosses,
reducers and reversals
• Sprinklers are assembled on Aluminium Canes available in
various heights ranging from 100mm to 400mm
• At the base of each cane is a coupling to connect into either
the Leverlock or the Halfturn System
• To ensure all Sprinklers remain upright, canes are attached
to individual Stabilising Base Plants
Half Turn Couplings (A)
Used on larger scale
application, generally in
63mm, and are the more
economical fitting. They
allow the water to drain
from the pipe when there
is no water pressure in the
pipes.
Leverlock couplings (B)
Used on smaller scale
applications, generally
in 50mm sive of the two
fittings. They provide a
more precise application
of water allowing no
drainage during times of
low or no water pressure.
Solid Set Sprinklers
Irrigation Systems
t: 01302 771881 f: 01302 771884 e: info@wrootwater.com
K-line irrigation is a
flexible hose line
sprinkler system
originally designed
for irrigation however
the low application
rate makes the k-line
system well suited to
effluent distribution.
At the heart of the system is a series of tough plastic pods
protecting a sprinkler, firmly attached to special k-line low
density polyethylene pipe. Sprinkler heads are selected
dependant on each individual system.
COVERLINE® can be used for many years in more
than one application and Wroot Water are able to adapt
COVERLINE® to individual needs. This allows movement
of the sprinklers from year to year ensuring crop rotation
is possible as required. Once the system has been installed
for the year, no further manpower is needed. Pipes and
fittings are easy to handle due to their quick couplings and
lightness.
On flat ground, pressure regulators are installed at the
beginning of the line allowing sprinklers to receive an equal
volume of water and pressure. Sprinklers situated on uphill
ground also require pressure regulators to be installed at the
beginning of the line, and on downhill ground at the end of
the line.
COVERLINE® Sprinklers work extremely well on both flat
and on undulating ground because pressure regulators are
installed to ensure even water distribution.
The facts:
• K-Line can be used with clean and dirty
water systems
• It has a low application rate system
• It is easy to install, use and move
	• There is a low capital cost
• Can be designed to suit individual needs
• Will suit any field shape, size or terrain
• Designed to operate at low pressure
• Provides a more uniform application
compared to travelling irrigators
Irrigation Systems
K-Line Irrigation
w w w . w r o o t w a t e r . c o m
• We provide bespoke mobile and stationary units
to suit individual requirements Flow rates range
from 2m³ to 250m³
• Pressures up to 12 bar
• All of our units are designed to operate at 300j/
m² at more than 50% light transmission. This is
sufficient to control water-borne pathogens
and micro-organisms when irrigating, washing or
processing fruit and salad crops
UV light inactivates viruses, mould spores and
yeasts bacteria (including Legionella and ecoli)
Ultra Violet (UV) Filters
Filtration is the
process that separates
solids from liquids,
making it an essential part of
Micro and Drip Irrigation Systems.
It plays a key role in reducing problems
with the irrigation system, effectively
reducing a large amount of time consuming
maintenance caused from blockages in tape,
sprinklers, valves or even pumps etc.The filters we supply
work effectively with clean and dirty water. We have many
filters available and various factors need to be taken into
consideration including;
• Water type
• Water source
• Size of solids in the water
• Speed of filtration required
• Irrigation system being used
The main filters we supply are Sand Filters, Disc Filters and
Screen Filters. Wroot Water uses two main suppliers for
filters; STF Filtros and Azud. We have worked alongside both
of these companies for over 10 years now giving us not only
a great knowledge of the filters we supply but also a fantastic
relationship with each company. If a problem occurs we are
easily able to rectify it by ourselves or with help from the
manufacturer’s technical support team.
• Sand filters are manufactured to the customer’s requirements
and vary in size and water flow rates
• Sand filters usually consist of a manifold with perforated off-
takes which draw water from the sand
• Customers are welcomed to contact us regarding specific
system requirements. We can also arrange site visits to
undertake a full assessment
• We have found these filters are effective and reliable
Filters & Valves
Sand Filters

Screen Filters are an efficient form of surface filtration, but are also
used widely in the irrigation world. Our automatic screen filters have
suction nozzles that continuously run backwards and forwards along
the filter screen brushing against it to constantly clean the screen
during the filtration process.
• Unlike other filters, this filter is able to perform
continuous filtration without the need to stop and
back flush
• The number of chambers in the filter varies
• We provide a range of screen filters -most common
are the FMA 1000 and the FMA 2000 from STF
• Filtration size on the screen filters vary from
10microns to 2000microns
Screen Filters
Spin Clean Filters prevent pumps and pumping equipment from getting
blocked because debris is filtered out with a continuous automatic
backwash system.
We supply a number of valve brands including Irrigator, Rain Bird and
Bermad. Pumps and Pipes (for clean and dirty water)
Spin Clean Filters
Valves
Filters & Valves
Disc Filter (Azud)
• Automatic filter
• These filters adapt to installations where
the pressure conditions are limited to the
rest of the self-cleaning systems
• UV water treatment is sufficient to
control brown-rot in irrigation water for
potatoes
• All of our units can be supplied as an
on-site installation or as a portable
system on a skid base or wheels
• Safety features including low-flow and
low UV cut out are installed
• Minimal maintenance is needed for the
UV filters but all essential
• Each of our systems has a pre-filter to
filter fine particles that make it difficult for
the UV to penetrate, and also to protect
the UV lamps
• We build mobile units with their own
power supply; a diesel generator gives
flexibility of location and increased
convenience for the UV unit
• Maintenance can be carried out by on-
site staff
• This reduces the consumed water
on the back flushing as well as the
maintenance and pressure
• A disc filter optimises the filtration
process and improves the energy cost
of installation

Rainwater harvesting involves the collection and recycling
of rainwater that falls onto building roofs or concrete areas.
A RWH system can be installed on a new-build or existing
buildings and will usually involve the collection, diversion
and storage of the water in a tank or reservoir. The pump
size and filtration level varies depending on the end use of
the water. RWH reduces the dependence on mains supply,
rivers and groundwater sources.
• No abstraction license is required
• The pay-back period can be calculated using figures
for the predicted water collection and usage volume
• This can be planned following an onsite assessment
• Where will the water be collected from?
• We supply and install all of our bespoke RWH systems
to meet individual requirements
To request a personalised quotation for one of our RWH
systems we need the following information;
• How big is the collection area?
• How much water will be used?
• What is the quality of water required
• What will the water eventually be used for? Knowing
the end use enables us to correctly allocate a filtration
system

  • 3. t: 01302 771881 f: 01302 771884 e: info@wrootwater.com “Irrigation Without Irritation” Wroot water has been established to offer a unique Irrigation Service to farmers and growers. We provide specialist advice on all types of irriga- tion systems to suit customer’s individual requirements. Our systems include various types of Drip irrigation, Solid set sprinklers and K-Line irrigation.Wroot Water specialises in agriculture based Drip Irrigation and Sprinkler irrigation Systems. We offer a full field mapping system design for every field as well as installation and maintenance plans once irrigation systems are in place. We provide the complete Irrigation System including: • Clean and dirty water pumps • Control systems • Weather monitoring equipment • Water meter testing • UV water treatment • K-Line irrigation • Energy efficient variable speed drives for Pumps • Bio Bed Kits (meeting all environmental and defray standards) The table illustrates differences in energy costs between various types of irrigation and results are based on electricity at £0.14 per KWH. The table compares the cost per 25mm per Ha applied: (energy cost may vary). System Time to apply 25mm per Ha £/Ha Hose Reel – Rain Gun 5hr 9.50 Hose Reel – Boom 5hr 7.60 Sprinkler 5hr 3.80 Drip-Trickle 5hr 0.90 Hose Reel / Rain Gun 10 bar, Hose Reel / Boom 8 bar, Sprinklers 4 bar (could be lower) / Drip 0.8 bar Both systems use water at a lower pressure reducing the levels of energy required. The water is delivered at a lower cost than irrigation systems that require a higher pressure. Drip and sprinkler irrigation are subsequently the most economical and efficient forms of irrigation on the market.
  • 4. w w w . w r o o t w a t e r . c o m Irrigation Systems We have several Drip/Trickle Irrigation systems available which need; • A reliable water source (sufficient to grow a crop) • A good filtration system to keep the Drip-pipe/Drip- tape working correctly • A series of pipes from the water source and pump to the drip lines • A design that meets daily water requirements • A design that operates effectively and efficiently Our unique automated systems are individually designed to the grower’s specific requirements using GPS mapping. Our bespoke systems vary in size from 10Ha to 100Ha plus. All of our systems are water, energy and cost efficient. The manufacturers we use are Rivulis t-tape and Toro aqua- traxx. Each automated system is controlled by a hand-held controller. This allows the valves to be programmed into a sequence; turning on and off independently depending on the requirements of each crop. Water is applied directly to the root of the crop enabling quicker maturity and an increasingly better quality end crop. Once they have been laid these systems manage themselves; no manual labour is required until after harvest of the crop.A number of agricultural and horticultural crops currently use drip irrigation including; Potatoes, Carrots, Leeks, Parsnips, Onions, Celery, Asparagus, Courgettes, Strawberries and Raspberries. The tape used for this irrigation process is available with a range of emitter spacings and flow rates. The low flow tape guarantees a gentle wetting of the soil structure around the rooting system and the nature of the tape makes it suitable for all soil types in particular those areas where access to water is limited.Tape is buried approximately 1½ to 2 inches below the surface; this can be done in tandem with planting (A) or afterwards as a separate process (B). These machines are available for hire or to buy At the end of the season drip tape can be retrieved at the same time as topping the crop using a front mounted flail. The tape is collected into a bale which can be released at the end of the field for disposal.Alternatively, hard-hose irrigation hose can be pulled out from one end of the field and stored on 4,500 metre rolls ready to be re-used. Drip Irrigation Systems A B
  • 5. t: 01302 771881 f: 01302 771884 e: info@wrootwater.com Hard-hose irrigation hose can be used for drip irrigation and can be re-used. At the end of the season, hard-hose can be stored on 4,500 metre rolls ready to be used the following year. Over time this makes hard-hose more cost effective than standard drip tape. Leachate Water Systems Automated Systems Hard Hose System We have been involved with the treatment of leachate and can provide systems. Please contact us for further information. We can supply a range of automated systems including radio systems, manual handheld programmer and phone applications. How Drip Irrigation works: • Water is filtered using a sand media filter, a disc filter, or a self-cleaning screen filter. The type of filter used is determined by the water source and quality • Water is transferred from the water source to the field by underground mains, aluminium pipes or lay-flat hose • Black polyethylene pipe is used as a header main and is made up to suit bed size and crop spacing joined together with Bauer couplings • An Pressure Reducing Valve serves one section of the field (usually around 4Ha) regulating the flow and reducing the pressure of the water to that required by the tape • We use solenoid valves controlled by radio receivers, manual handheld programmers and phone applications. Irrigation Systems
  • 6. w w w . w r o o t w a t e r . c o m We have worked alongside our Spanish suppliers developing the COVERLINE® Sprinkler System for a number of years. The system enables customers to begin small scale ensuring low initial set-up costs and systems can then be expanded as each budget allows. The Facts: • COVERLINE® Sprinkler Systems operate at a working pressure of 2.5 bar to 4 bar. • The required pressure is determined by a number of factors including; • The type of sprinkler being used • The distance between sprinklers in the line • What the water source is • The size of the area being watered and; • The length of rows that the water has to travel • Sprinkler choice is entirely dependable on individual crop watering requirements • COVERLINE® Irrigation works well with all types of soil and the control valve can be set to operate at different rates to suit the demand for water • Similarly to drip irrigation, the COVERLINE® system allows sprinklers to be split into zones controlled by valves operated by solenoids. • Radio control units and a new GPRS control system can be used with COVERLINE® How it works: • The COVERLINE® Irrigation System has a Header pipe either in the centre of the field or at the field headland depending on field size • From the main Header Pipe off-takes are taken through control valves into the COVERLINE® pipes which run within the rows of crops. COVERLINE® pipes are manufactured using high density polyethylene with aluminium couplings • A large range of fittings for Leverlock and Halfturn couplings are available including elbows, tees, crosses, reducers and reversals • Sprinklers are assembled on Aluminium Canes available in various heights ranging from 100mm to 400mm • At the base of each cane is a coupling to connect into either the Leverlock or the Halfturn System • To ensure all Sprinklers remain upright, canes are attached to individual Stabilising Base Plants Half Turn Couplings (A) Used on larger scale application, generally in 63mm, and are the more economical fitting. They allow the water to drain from the pipe when there is no water pressure in the pipes. Leverlock couplings (B) Used on smaller scale applications, generally in 50mm sive of the two fittings. They provide a more precise application of water allowing no drainage during times of low or no water pressure. Solid Set Sprinklers Irrigation Systems
  • 7. t: 01302 771881 f: 01302 771884 e: info@wrootwater.com K-line irrigation is a flexible hose line sprinkler system originally designed for irrigation however the low application rate makes the k-line system well suited to effluent distribution. At the heart of the system is a series of tough plastic pods protecting a sprinkler, firmly attached to special k-line low density polyethylene pipe. Sprinkler heads are selected dependant on each individual system. COVERLINE® can be used for many years in more than one application and Wroot Water are able to adapt COVERLINE® to individual needs. This allows movement of the sprinklers from year to year ensuring crop rotation is possible as required. Once the system has been installed for the year, no further manpower is needed. Pipes and fittings are easy to handle due to their quick couplings and lightness. On flat ground, pressure regulators are installed at the beginning of the line allowing sprinklers to receive an equal volume of water and pressure. Sprinklers situated on uphill ground also require pressure regulators to be installed at the beginning of the line, and on downhill ground at the end of the line. COVERLINE® Sprinklers work extremely well on both flat and on undulating ground because pressure regulators are installed to ensure even water distribution. The facts: • K-Line can be used with clean and dirty water systems • It has a low application rate system • It is easy to install, use and move • There is a low capital cost • Can be designed to suit individual needs • Will suit any field shape, size or terrain • Designed to operate at low pressure • Provides a more uniform application compared to travelling irrigators Irrigation Systems K-Line Irrigation
  • 8. w w w . w r o o t w a t e r . c o m • We provide bespoke mobile and stationary units to suit individual requirements Flow rates range from 2m³ to 250m³ • Pressures up to 12 bar • All of our units are designed to operate at 300j/ m² at more than 50% light transmission. This is sufficient to control water-borne pathogens and micro-organisms when irrigating, washing or processing fruit and salad crops UV light inactivates viruses, mould spores and yeasts bacteria (including Legionella and ecoli) Ultra Violet (UV) Filters Filtration is the process that separates solids from liquids, making it an essential part of Micro and Drip Irrigation Systems. It plays a key role in reducing problems with the irrigation system, effectively reducing a large amount of time consuming maintenance caused from blockages in tape, sprinklers, valves or even pumps etc.The filters we supply work effectively with clean and dirty water. We have many filters available and various factors need to be taken into consideration including; • Water type • Water source • Size of solids in the water • Speed of filtration required • Irrigation system being used The main filters we supply are Sand Filters, Disc Filters and Screen Filters. Wroot Water uses two main suppliers for filters; STF Filtros and Azud. We have worked alongside both of these companies for over 10 years now giving us not only a great knowledge of the filters we supply but also a fantastic relationship with each company. If a problem occurs we are easily able to rectify it by ourselves or with help from the manufacturer’s technical support team. • Sand filters are manufactured to the customer’s requirements and vary in size and water flow rates • Sand filters usually consist of a manifold with perforated off- takes which draw water from the sand • Customers are welcomed to contact us regarding specific system requirements. We can also arrange site visits to undertake a full assessment • We have found these filters are effective and reliable Filters & Valves Sand Filters
  • 9. t: 01302 771881 f: 01302 771884 e: info@wrootwater.com Screen Filters are an efficient form of surface filtration, but are also used widely in the irrigation world. Our automatic screen filters have suction nozzles that continuously run backwards and forwards along the filter screen brushing against it to constantly clean the screen during the filtration process. • Unlike other filters, this filter is able to perform continuous filtration without the need to stop and back flush • The number of chambers in the filter varies • We provide a range of screen filters -most common are the FMA 1000 and the FMA 2000 from STF • Filtration size on the screen filters vary from 10microns to 2000microns Screen Filters Spin Clean Filters prevent pumps and pumping equipment from getting blocked because debris is filtered out with a continuous automatic backwash system. We supply a number of valve brands including Irrigator, Rain Bird and Bermad. Pumps and Pipes (for clean and dirty water) Spin Clean Filters Valves Filters & Valves Disc Filter (Azud) • Automatic filter • These filters adapt to installations where the pressure conditions are limited to the rest of the self-cleaning systems • UV water treatment is sufficient to control brown-rot in irrigation water for potatoes • All of our units can be supplied as an on-site installation or as a portable system on a skid base or wheels • Safety features including low-flow and low UV cut out are installed • Minimal maintenance is needed for the UV filters but all essential • Each of our systems has a pre-filter to filter fine particles that make it difficult for the UV to penetrate, and also to protect the UV lamps • We build mobile units with their own power supply; a diesel generator gives flexibility of location and increased convenience for the UV unit • Maintenance can be carried out by on- site staff • This reduces the consumed water on the back flushing as well as the maintenance and pressure • A disc filter optimises the filtration process and improves the energy cost of installation
