Jesus had fed a large crowd with a small amount of food. He sent his disciples ahead in a boat while he went to pray. The disciples encountered a storm on the sea, and saw Jesus walking toward them on the water. Peter asked to join Jesus, and began walking on water as well, but sank when he lost faith and became afraid of the waves. Jesus rescued Peter and brought him back into the boat. The disciples then recognized Jesus as the Son of God.

2. Jesus had just fed many people with five loaves of bread and two small fish. He then told his disciples to go ahead of him in a ship, and afterwards went into a mountain to pray.

3. When Jesus had prayed, he looked out and saw that stormy weather was tossing the disciple’s boat. Jesus went to them by walking on the sea.

4. When the disciples saw him they thought he was a spirit and were afraid. But Jesus said to them, “It is I” and don’t be afraid.

5. Peter said, “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” And Jesus said, “Come.” Peter stepped out on the water and was walking towards Jesus when he began to look at the waves. After he looked at the waves and the wind, he became afraid and began to sink!

6. Jesus caught his hand and saved him. He asked Peter, “Oh thou of little faith.” Why did you doubt?”

7. When Peter and Jesus got to the boat the wind stopped, and the disciples worshipped Jesus saying, “Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”
