Abdel a 40-year-old male refugee with a bachelor’s degree in theology spent 12 years living in a refugee camp in an African nation (Plummer & Makris, 2014). He was first considered a refugee by a United Nations six months after arriving at the camp but was forced to wait 12 years before his arrangements were finalized to come to the United States (Plummer & Makris, 2014). During his time in the camp, he lost all contact with family and friends and was informed that his wife had remarried and had other children by her new husband (Plummer & Makris, 2014). Before making it to the refugee camp Abdel was a prisoner who was beaten and deprived of food, water and basic sanitary necessities (Plummer & Makris, 2014). These conditions have caused him to have poor dental health and chronic health problems (Plummer & Makris, 2014) Because of his refugee status, Abdel qualifies for some special services offered by the United States government (Plummer & Makris, 2014). Abdel a 40-year-old male refugee with a bachelor’s degree in theology spent 12 years living in a refugee camp in an African nation (Plummer & Makris, 2014). He was first considered a refugee by a United Nations six months after arriving at the camp but was forced to wait 12 years before his arrangements were finalized to come to the United States (Plummer & Makris, 2014). Taking care of someone poses different challenges, resulting in different types of stressors so caregivers need to be conscientious of those challenges to be prepared to deal with them when they come up. Additionally, being a caregiver for a loved one can be very taxing and cumbersome, resulting in decreased mental and physical health (Alexander & Wilz, 2010).
Fekete et al. (2007) states that emotional support has a significant influence on an individual with a chronic illness. Emotional support provides a more positive outlook for an individual, which, can impact their mental state and also influence their health (Fekete et al., 2007). Additionally, caregivers or spouses of individuals with chronic illnesses are more susceptible to health implications and psychological stress, resulting from lifestyles changes, assuming the responsibilities of their loved one, limited time for social events, and most importantly, lack of self-care (Fekete et al., 2007). Fekete et al. (2007) also states that women and men differ on how they support each other and how they interpret that support.
According to Umberson et al. (2016), various factors should be considered in thinking about how individuals interpret and respond to relationships. Social contexts influence the way in which men and women deal with illness. For example, men are typically encouraged to be strong, independent, and inattentive regarding physical illness or pain, therefore men are more likely to avoid accepting or looking for help whereas women are perceived to be delicate and feeble (Umberson et al., 2016)..

Psychotherapy plays a crucial role in aiding clients to express their feeling, emotion, and frustrations. According to Wheeler (2014), “a comprehensive assessment is required in the initial session, and many tools are available to help the therapist” (p.131). Clinician utilizes different types of assessment tools for different diagnosis. The purpose of this paper is to explain the psychometric properties of the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive scale (Y-BOCS) by providing evidence-based articles. Also, to outline the efficacy of psychopharmacologic medications.
Explain when it is appropriate to use this assessment tool with clients
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is defined as “an anxiety disorder in which time people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions) (American Psychiatric Association, 2020). For example, a client who washes her hand by going to the restroom repeatedly. These unwanted thoughts are unintentional, and the clinician needs to use the Yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scale to monitor the compulsion rate and obsession rate to determine the severity of the obsessive-compulsive behavior. According to Rosario-Campos, Miguel, Quatrano, Chacon, Ferrao, Findley, and Leckman (2006), “The DY-BOCS self-report is composed of an 88-item self-report checklist, designed to provide a detailed description of obsessions and compulsions that are divided into six different obsessive-compulsive symptom dimensions"(p.497). Therefore, it is appropriated for the clinician to use the Yale-brown compulsive scale to identify the severity of the obsessive and compulsive rate.
Explain whether the tool can be used to evaluate the efficacy of psychopharmacologic medications. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.
I believe the Yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scare can determine to evaluate the efficacy of the psychopharmacologic medication. Meng, Han, Luo, Liu, Liu, Tang, Hou, Wei, Shi, Tang, Huang, Sun, & Li (2019) 24-week study showed significantly more patients receiving combined therapy than medication alone had a decrease in symptom severity of at least 35% (based on Y-BOCS total score). Meng et., al (2019) also concluded that CBT combined with medication may be useful in alleviating symptoms and social functioning impairment associated with OCD, particularly for the treatment of compulsive behavior. In conclusion, the Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale (Y-BOCS) is an assessment tool that helps the clinician evaluate the efficacy of the psychopharmacologic medication.

Reading the synopsis of Josiah's first session, I have a few questions regarding his risky behaviors with alcohol as well as with sex. First, is he having sex while intoxicated or have his sexual encounters been during periods of sobriety? Second, while binge drinking is made common by media and groups of people, it is still not a commonly accepted behavior in our culture... He may have found a niche drinking group of people. Therefore, what does Josiah deem as "binge drinking" if not his behavior with alcohol? Does he understand the impairments in judgement when drinking can inhibit rational decision-making, therefore increasing the likelihood of risky behaviors in sexual encounters? What forms of "sex" is he having? Is it penetrative intercourse, oral, etc? I ask this because forms of sex that are not penetrative carry no concern for unwanted pregnancies, but still are risky in terms of getting STIs.
In conversation with him, I would ask questions, guiding him to conclude that sexual acts involving more than one person, do just that... Involve more than one person. That means the choices he makes in the shared sexual experiences do not affect him alone. They also affect his sexual partner or partners at the time. He needs to understand that the means in which he engages in sex can be considered reckless and thoughtle.

My first independent variable (sex) and my dependent variable (stress) are related. Men and
women tend to experience stress differently. Similarly, men and women react differently to
stress.
I expect women to score higher than men on the dependent variable. Women suffer more stress
compared to men. A 2010 study discovered that women are more likely to experience an
increase in stress levels as compared to men. Women are also more likely to report emotional
and physical symptoms of stress compared to men (APA, 2012). The stress gap between men
and women is because their stress response is different. Women have a different hormonal
system that usually causes them to react more emotionally and become more fatigued.
Similarly, women are exposed to more stress-related factors since they assume several roles in
their daily life.

My second independent variable (anxiety) is related to my dependent variable (stress). Anxiety
and stress can both cause severe physical and mental health issues, such as depression, muscle
tension, substance abuse, personality disorders, and insomia (Powell & Enright, 2015). Both are
emotions and normal responses that can become disruptive and overwhelming to day-to-day
life. They can interfere with important aspects of life, such as work, relationships,
responsibilities, and school.
An increase in anxiety can increase stress levels. Research indicates that excessive anxiety can
lead to stress-related symptoms such as difficulty concentrating, insomnia, irritability, muscle
tension, and fatigue. Individuals can manage their anxiety and stress with relaxation techniques.
This includes breathing exercises, yoga, physical activity, art therapy, meditation, and massage.

2. How do society’s views on, and responses to, mental illness resemble those of past centuries? How do they differ?
Before the scientific era, those with mental illness were seen by society as different or being punished for sins or violating a taboo. After a few centuries of isolating those who had a mental disorder and being forced to fend for themselves, they start to be housed in mental asylums, the first was founded in 1817. When Sigmund Freud started to do his research on developmental psychology was when people started to understand that mental disorders are not because of a religious punishment and did not need to be excluded from society was when those with a mental disorder started to get help.
In today's modern society there are a lot of resources available for those who have a mental illness. In the past decade, I believe there has been a lot more acceptance and tolerance of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. But I think there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Living in San Diego there is a homeless problem and it's unfortunate common knowledge that a lot of them live on the streets because of mental illness whether it be because of addiction or schizophrenia to name a few. There are charities and resources out there that work to help get these people off the street but I think there is a lot of work that still needs to be done with regards to acceptance and getting people the treatment that they need if they have a mental disorder.

In a relationship, when one becomes very ill and requires a caregiver, it can significantly impact the relationship. In some instances, it can make the relationship stronger, however, there are many challenges from the perspective of both male and female. Alexander and Wilz (2010) state that family caregivers have to develop coping skills to deal with issues that could arise daily. Taking care of someone poses different challenges, resulting in different types of stressors so caregivers need to be conscientious of those challenges to be prepared to deal with them when they come up. Additionally, being a caregiver for a loved one can be very taxing and cumbersome, resulting in decreased mental and physical health (Alexander & Wilz, 2010).
Fekete et al. (2007) states that emotional support has a significant influence on an individual with a chronic illness. Emotional support provides a more positive outlook for an individual, which, can impact their mental state and also influence their health (Fekete et al., 2007). Additionally, caregivers or spouses of individuals with chronic illnesses are more susceptible to health implications and psychological stress, resulting from lifestyles changes, assuming the responsibilities of their loved one, limited time for social events, and most importantly, lack of self-care (Fekete et al., 2007). Fekete et al. (2007) also states that women and men differ on how they support each other and how they interpret that support.
According to Umberson et al. (2016), various factors should be considered in thinking about how individuals interpret and respond to relationships. Social contexts influence the way in which men and women deal with illness. For example, men are typically encouraged to be strong, independent, and inattentive regarding physical illness or pain, therefore men are more likely to avoid accepting or looking for help whereas women are perceived to be delicate and feeble (Umberson et al., 2016)..

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is defined as “an anxiety disorder in which time people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions) (American Psychiatric Association, 2020). For example, a client who washes her hand by going to the restroom repeatedly. These unwanted thoughts are unintentional, and the clinician needs to use the Yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scale to monitor the compulsion rate and obsession rate to determine the severity of the obsessive-compulsive behavior. According to Rosario-Campos, Miguel, Quatrano, Chacon, Ferrao, Findley, and Leckman (2006), “The DY-BOCS self-report is composed of an 88-item self-report checklist, designed to provide a detailed description of obsessions and compulsions that are divided into six different obsessive-compulsive symptom dimensions"(p.497). Therefore, it is appropriated for the clinician to use the Yale-brown compulsive scale to identify the severity of the obsessive and compulsive rate.
Explain whether the tool can be used to evaluate the efficacy of psychopharmacologic medications. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.
I believe the Yale-brown obsessive-compulsive scare can determine to evaluate the efficacy of the psychopharmacologic medication. Meng, Han, Luo, Liu, Liu, Tang, Hou, Wei, Shi, Tang, Huang, Sun, & Li (2019) 24-week study showed significantly more patients receiving combined therapy than medication alone had a decrease in symptom severity of at least 35% (based on Y-BOCS total score). Meng et., al (2019) also concluded that CBT combined with medication may be useful in alleviating symptoms and social functioning impairment associated with OCD, particularly for the treatment of compulsive behavior. In conclusion, the Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale (Y-BOCS) is an assessment tool that helps the clinician evaluate the efficacy of the psychopharmacologic medication.

Reading the synopsis of Josiah's first session, I have a few questions regarding his risky behaviors with alcohol as well as with sex. First, is he having sex while intoxicated or have his sexual encounters been during periods of sobriety? Second, while binge drinking is made common by media and groups of people, it is still not a commonly accepted behavior in our culture... He may have found a niche drinking group of people. Therefore, what does Josiah deem as "binge drinking" if not his behavior with alcohol? Does he understand the impairments in judgement when drinking can inhibit rational decision-making, therefore increasing the likelihood of risky behaviors in sexual encounters? What forms of "sex" is he having? Is it penetrative intercourse, oral, etc? I ask this because forms of sex that are not penetrative carry no concern for unwanted pregnancies, but still are risky in terms of getting STIs.
In conversation with him, I would ask questions, guiding him to conclude that sexual acts involving more than one person, do just that... Involve more than one person. That means the choices he makes in the shared sexual experiences do not affect him alone. They also affect his sexual partner or partners at the time. He needs to understand that the means in which he engages in sex can be considered reckless and thoughtle.

Question #1
My first independent variable (sex) and my dependent variable (stress) are related. Men and
women tend to experience stress differently. Similarly, men and women react differently to
stress.
I expect women to score higher than men on the dependent variable. Women suffer more stress
compared to men. A 2010 study discovered that women are more likely to experience an
increase in stress levels as compared to men. Women are also more likely to report emotional
and physical symptoms of stress compared to men (APA, 2012). The stress gap between men
and women is because their stress response is different. Women have a different hormonal
system that usually causes them to react more emotionally and become more fatigued.
Similarly, women are exposed to more stress-related factors since they assume several roles in
their daily life.

My second independent variable (anxiety) is related to my dependent variable (stress). Anxiety
and stress can both cause severe physical and mental health issues, such as depression, muscle
tension, substance abuse, personality disorders, and insomia (Powell & Enright, 2015). Both are
emotions and normal responses that can become disruptive and overwhelming to day-to-day
life. They can interfere with important aspects of life, such as work, relationships,
responsibilities, and school.
An increase in anxiety can increase stress levels. Research indicates that excessive anxiety can
lead to stress-related symptoms such as difficulty concentrating, insomnia, irritability, muscle
tension, and fatigue. Individuals can manage their anxiety and stress with relaxation techniques.
This includes breathing exercises, yoga, physical activity, art therapy, meditation, and massage.

2. How do society’s views on, and responses to, mental illness resemble those of past centuries? How do they differ?
Before the scientific era, those with mental illness were seen by society as different or being punished for sins or violating a taboo. After a few centuries of isolating those who had a mental disorder and being forced to fend for themselves, they start to be housed in mental asylums, the first was founded in 1817. When Sigmund Freud started to do his research on developmental psychology was when people started to understand that mental disorders are not because of a religious punishment and did not need to be excluded from society was when those with a mental disorder started to get help.
In today's modern society there are a lot of resources available for those who have a mental illness. In the past decade, I believe there has been a lot more acceptance and tolerance of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. But I think there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Living in San Diego there is a homeless problem and it's unfortunate common knowledge that a lot of them live on the streets because of mental illness whether it be because of addiction or schizophrenia to name a few. There are charities and resources out there that work to help get these people off the street but I think there is a lot of work that still needs to be done with regards to acceptance and getting people the treatment that they need if they have a mental disorder.

He enjoys the more social aspects of his job, but tracking the details is challenging and has caused him to lose jobs in the past. He has been dating his partner, Justin, for five years. Justin feels it is time for them to commit and build a future. Justin is frustrated that Julio refuses to plan the wedding and tends to blame Julio’s family. While Julio’s parents hold some traditional religious values, they would welcome Justin into the family but are respectfully waiting for Julio to make his plans known. Justin is as overwhelmed by the details at home as he is at work. •The Case of Kimi: Kimi is a 48-year-old female currently separated from her husband, Robert, of 16 years. They have no children, which was consistent with Kimi’s desire to focus on her career as a sales manager. She told Robert a pregnancy would wreck her efforts to maintain her body. His desire to have a family was a goal he decided he needed to pursue with someone else. He left Kimi six months ago for a much younger woman and filed for divorce. Kimi began having issues with food during high school when she was on the dance team and felt self-conscious wearing the form-fitting uniform. During college, she sought treatment because her roommate became alarmed by her issues around eating. She never told her parents about this and felt it was behind her. Her parents are Danish and value privacy. They always expected Kimi to be independent. Her lack of communication about her private life did not concern them. They are troubled by Robert’s behavior and consider his conspicuous infidelity as a poor reflection upon their family. Kimi has moved in with her parents while she and Robert are selling the house, which has upended the balance in their relationship. For a third case, choose one of these videos: •The Case of Reese: -Reese is a 44-year-old married African American female. Her parents live in another state, and she is their only child. Her father is a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel who was stationed both in the United States and overseas while Reese was growing up. She entered the Air Force as soon as she graduated high school at age 17 and has achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. She has been married 15 years to John, and they recently discovered she is pregnant. The unexpected pregnancy has been quite disorienting for someone who has planned.

Choose one of the two stories at the end of this unit, either "Why the Flint-Rock Cannot Fight Back"
You can write of yourself telling one of the stories.
In telling your story, here is what you will need to consider:
Clarity of speech
Intonation
Pacing and pauses
You will also have to work out how to make this telling of the story yours. You might want to read it aloud with point form notes for a prompt or to memorize it. Perhaps you want to rewrite it so that it sounds more like your words. Maybe you will change names and place-names to those you are familiar with. If you are making a video or performing this live, you should practice facial and hand gestures as well as stance and body language. The purpose of all of this is to bring your own meaning to the story.

Why the Flint-Rock Cannot Fight Back
Sto-Way’-Na—Flint—was rich and powerful. His lodge was toward the sunrise. It was guarded by Squr-hein— Crane. He was the watcher. He watched from the top of a lone tree. When anybody approached, Crane would call out and warn Flint, and Flint would come out of his lodge and meet the visitor.
There was an open flat in front of the lodge. Flint met all his visitors there. Warriors and hunters came and bought flint for arrow-points and spear-heads. They paid Flint big prices for the privilege of chipping off the hard stone. Some who needed flint for their weapons were poor and could not buy. These poor persons Flint turned away.
Coyote heard about Flint and, as he wanted some arrow-points, he asked his squas-tenk’ to help him. Squas-tenk’ refused.
“Hurry, do what I ask, or I will throw you away and let the rain wash you— wash you cold,” said Coyote, and then the power gave him three rocks that were harder than the flint-rock. It also gave him a little dog that had only one ear. But this ear was sharp, like a knife; it was a knife- ear.
Then to his wife, Mole, Coyote said: “Go and make your underground trails in the flat where Sto-way’-na lives. When you have finished and see me talking with him, show yourself so we can see you.”
Then Coyote set out for Flint’s lodge. As he got near it, he had his power make a fog to cover the land, and thick fog spread over everything. Crane, the watcher, up in the lone tree, could not see Coyote. He did not know that Coyote was around.
Coyote climbed the tree and took Crane from his high perch and broke his neck. Crane had no time to cry out. Then Coyote went on to Flint’s lodge. He was almost there when Flint’s dog, Grizzly Bear, jumped out of the lodge and ran toward him.
Coyote was not scared, and he yelled at Flint: “Stop your grizzly bear dog! Stop him, or my dog will kill him.”
That amused Flint, who was looking through the doorway. He saw that Coyote’s one-eared dog was very small, hardly a mouthful for Grizzly Bear. Fli.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal

advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to

these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in

- 1. A diagnosis is powerful in the effect it can have on a person’s life and treatment protocol. When working with a client, a social worker must make important decisions—not only about the diagnostic label itself but about whom to tell and when. In this Discussion, you evaluate the use and communication of a diagnosis in a case study. To prepare: Focus on the complex but precise definition of a mental disorder in the DSM-5 and the concept of dimensionality both there and in the Paris (2015) and Lasalvia (2015) readings. Also note that the definition of a mental disorder includes a set of caveats and recommendations to help find the boundary between normal distress and a mental disorder. Then consider the following case: Ms. Evans, age 27, was awaiting honorable discharge from her service in Iraq with the U.S. Navy when her colleagues noticed that she looked increasingly fearful and was talking about hearing voices telling her that the world was going to be destroyed in 2020. With Ms. Evans’s permission, the evaluating [social worker] interviewed one of her closest colleagues, who indicated that Ms. Evans has not been taking good care of herself for several months. Ms. Evans said she was depressed. The [social worker] also learned that Ms. Evans’s performance of her military job duties had declined during this time and that her commanding officer had recommended to Ms. Evans that she be evaluated by a psychiatrist approximately 2 weeks earlier, for possible depression. On interview, Ms. Evans endorsed believing the world was
- 2. going to end soon and indicated that several times she has heard an audible voice that repeats this information. She has a maternal uncle with schizophrenia, and her mother has a diagnosis of bipolar I disorder. Ms. Evans’s toxicology screen is positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
