Best friends secure accountability (Governance in Church Schools)Mike Simmonds
The document discusses the nature of friendship, particularly Christian friendship. It provides quotes that define a friend as someone who knows you fully but loves you unconditionally, who will support you no matter what and tell you the truth even when it's difficult to hear. Jesus calls his disciples friends and says there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for a friend. The document explores what makes an effective friend, including trust, loyalty, and not judging others.
This document discusses the Catholic concept of faith. It defines faith as a personal response to God's revelation through Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. Faith involves believing certain doctrines with the mind, trusting in God with the heart, and following God's commandments with the will. The document emphasizes that faith is both an individual act but also requires participation in the Christian community. It outlines various pressures on faith in modern society but asserts that lack of faith leads to negative consequences and a lack of moral guidance and meaningful worship.
The document discusses the key aspects of discipleship according to Jesus' teachings in Luke. It summarizes that true discipleship requires total allegiance to Christ, denying oneself, taking up one's cross daily, and following Jesus completely. While difficult, disciples find strength and guidance from God through submitting their will to Him. The document also examines how Jesus called ordinary people to be His disciples and apostles, equipping them to continue His work, and how He commissioned them to preach and heal through the power of His name.

This document discusses the importance of generosity and living generously. It provides quotes from religious figures about generosity and giving. Bible passages are cited that portray God and Jesus as examples of ultimate generosity in giving their son and life. The document encourages readers to replicate God's generosity by giving of themselves and their talents as Jesus commanded and modeled through his own life.
The document discusses biblical promises from God. It notes that all scripture is inspired by God and lists several promises from both the Old and New Testaments. These include promises of hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11), rest for the weary (Matthew 11:28-29), renewal of strength for those who hope in God (Isaiah 40:29-31), having all needs met (Philippians 4:19), being more than conquerors through Christ's love (Romans 8:37-39), living in safety without fear (Proverbs 1:33), receiving a peace the world cannot give (John 14:27), salvation through believing Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9), and the
This document discusses legalism and how Christians should not submit to man-made rules and regulations. It notes that believers have died with Christ and are complete in Him, so they should not follow decrees like "do not handle, do not taste, do not touch." While these rules have an appearance of wisdom, they are of no value and are based on human teachings rather than God. The document warns that legalism can lead to pride and fleshly indulgence rather than true spirituality and submission to God through Christ.
The Book of Mormon is the keystone of the LDS faith and most correct book, according to Joseph Smith. It teaches about the Fall, Atonement, and gospel principles and ordinances. It verifies and clarifies the Bible, exposes enemies of Christ, and lays down contention. Reading from the Book of Mormon regularly with family can help bring righteousness, faith, hope, charity, and happiness into homes. The document testifies that the Book of Mormon is a gift of love from God to help remember Jesus Christ and have peace and eternal life.
The document provides a prayer asking God for wisdom and revelation so that believers may know God's hope, inheritance, and power. It also contains questions about the importance of community in faith, how community can help with spiritual struggles, and how to choose love over hate. The document concludes with a benediction praying that believers may be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding to live pleasing lives bearing fruit through God's strength.
God’s definition of a saint and their futurePaul Fuller
God defines saints as faithful followers of God through Jesus Christ who are beloved by God, called and sanctified. Their destiny according to scripture is to inherit God's kingdom, judge the world, and receive God's words. This leaves believers called to earnestly contend for the faith delivered to the saints and keep God's commandments as the saints did, with the promise of inheriting God's kingdom.
This document discusses the fruit of righteousness from the Holy Spirit. It explains that righteousness comes from our relationship with Christ, not our own works, which are like filthy rags. True righteousness is imputed to us through Jesus' sacrifice and imparted by the Holy Spirit to produce right deeds. Both imputed and imparted righteousness are necessary - we are justified by faith but also called to obedience, with obedience being the fruit of genuine faith.

I have been a Christian for twenty years and believe it is my responsibility as a believer to reflect God's word in all aspects of my life, including my profession as a teacher. When teaching, I integrate biblical principles with my subject areas because I view the Bible as infallible, inerrant, and the final authority, rather than human philosophies. My goal is to teach through this biblical worldview and fulfill my duty as a Christian.
Ecclesiology Part 4 - Discipleship 2 -The Cost of discipleshipRobert Tan
This document discusses the cost of discipleship according to principles outlined in the Bible. It states that discipleship requires denying oneself by surrendering one's will to obey Christ. Disciples must also be willing to bear their cross by enduring hardships and persecution for doing God's will. Further, the document emphasizes counting the cost of fully committing to follow Jesus, which may mean forsaking all one has. True disciples deny themselves daily by taking up their cross and following Christ.
This document discusses tools for spiritual growth in the Christian faith. It begins by stating that baptism in the Spirit is only the beginning and believers must continue growing. Key tools for growth discussed are prayer, Bible study, spiritual reading, teachings, fellowship, sacraments like communion and confession, and serving others. Prayer is emphasized as the primary means of relationship with God, and three principles for successful prayer are outlined: being faithful, led by the Spirit, and centered on Christ. The document encourages availing of the tools God has provided in order to grow in holiness.

If we are to perceive and experience the game not through the set of rules, outcome, punishments and rewards and the goal, but as a set of random occurrences as well as conscious and unconscious decisions, mistakes, context, environment etc., we could be able to deconstruct the infrastructure of the game and get the glimpse of alternate realities. Again, it is not the question of throwing random cards and getting the same outcome as playing by the rules of the game, it is the question of actualizing the new system without touching the infrastructure or creating a new one.

Memory involves three basic processes - encoding, storage, and retrieval. There are three types of memory - sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory. Sensory memory only lasts a short time, short-term memory can hold information for 15-25 seconds using rehearsal and chunking, and long-term memory stores information more permanently. The hippocampus aids in encoding, the cerebral cortex stores memories, and the amygdala is involved with emotional memories.

This document discusses the 4th world war as a silent war for total human enslavement or eradication. It asserts that we have already lost the 3rd world war, which was an information war capitalized on by powerful entities to create pseudo-realities through overwhelming media. It proposes the possibility of achieving absolute cognition and tapping into a cosmic consciousness without technology by actualizing a fundamental ontology. It argues for canceling the existing social contract paradigm in favor of a new system based on mutually supportive entities rather than survival of the fittest.
The document presents a series of statements where a person expresses doubts or difficulties, and God's response offering guidance, strength, forgiveness and love. It aims to reassure the reader that no matter what they are facing, God is there to help direct their path and give them rest. It concludes by encouraging the reader to adopt the Islamic path and read the Quran to know more of what God wants to tell them.
Agile working provides financial and non-financial benefits to organizations. Financially, it can reduce costs through a smaller property portfolio, lower capital expenditures, and reduced utilities. Non-financially, it can improve staff satisfaction and productivity, enhance sustainability practices, and strengthen an organization's brand. An agile working strategy should identify both quantified and unquantified benefits to gain stakeholder support and help manage the change process. Implementing agile working can help inform an organization's estate strategy and enable working environment goals.

Islam and Christianity as Seen in the BibleHear O World
This document discusses the origin and meaning of the terms "Islam" and "Christianity" based on references from the Quran and Bible. It makes the following key points:
1. The term "Islam" comes directly from God in the Quran and means "submission to the will of the One True God." Its meaning conveys attaining peace through obedience to God.
2. While the word "Islam" is not directly found in the Bible, its concept of submission to God through keeping His commandments is repeatedly emphasized. Multiple biblical passages command believers to obey, fear, love, and serve God with all their heart.
3. The document examines passages where biblical figures like Moses
This document discusses different perspectives on the exclusivity of Christianity and the role of Christ in relation to other religions. It summarizes the views of Hendrik Kraemer who argued that Christianity should be critically judged only in light of Christ. It also discusses critiques of Kraemer for neglecting the dynamic nature of religions. The document presents inclusive perspectives, including views that God's grace operates in all religions, that Christ is the Logos who was active before and outside Christianity, and that Christ cannot be exclusively claimed and may be present in other religions without being identified as Christ. It emphasizes recognizing God's presence in other faiths without imposing Christ as their center, while still centering Christ in Christian faith.
This document is an introduction to a book that aims to foster understanding between Christianity and Islam through examining their shared origins and parallels. It discusses how the book will explore topics like the scriptures of the religions, the baptism and crucifixion of Jesus, his mission and ministry, and an introduction to Islam. The introduction notes the author's background and qualifications, and explains linguistic conventions used like referring to God as Allah and using phrases like "peace be upon him". The goal is to highlight historical commonalities that have been obscured to create division between the two faiths.
The document discusses important criteria for choosing a church to attend regularly. It lists two "must haves" - that the church faithfully teaches God's word and upholds sound doctrine. Several other desirable qualities are also mentioned, such as preference for a church where the priorities are biblical truths rather than personal preferences. The rest of the document provides biblical support for focusing on scriptural teaching and doctrine when selecting a church.
The document discusses the Lutheran understanding of worship as being centered on God's action toward humanity rather than humanity's action toward God. It notes that worship, according to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions, is defined as faith - believing the Gospel and receiving forgiveness of sins and eternal life from God by His grace. The common definition of worship as honoring or revering God through human acts is considered misguided, as the Lutheran view is that worship originates from God and has Him as the giver and humanity as the receivers of His gifts.
Practical Religion Chapter 11 - FormalityScott Thomas
This summary provides the key points about the document in 3 sentences:
The document warns about the dangers of formalism in religion and emphasizes that true faith must come from the heart, not just outward practices and profession. It explains that formal religion is empty and will not lead to salvation, only heartfelt faith that influences one's entire life pleases God. While true faith may be unpopular, it is commended by God, so Christians should avoid shallow formalism and cultivate sincere faith in their hearts through applying Scripture and devotion to Christ.

This document discusses some common beliefs and moral values shared between Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. It outlines that the three faiths share a belief in one God, Allah, who is the creator of all things. They also believe in prophets who have been sent with divine books to guide people, in the Day of Judgment when people will be held accountable for their deeds, and in virtues like modesty, justice, and trust in God. The document notes that while the faiths contain different rulings, they essentially offer the same belief and ethical model. It argues that identifying these shared foundations can help followers of the three religions to feel greater proximity to one another.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

1. A Common Word
Between Us and You
An Open Letter and Call from 138
Muslim Religious Leaders to
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and
Other Christian Religious Leaders of
the World
2. A Common Word
Between Us and You
…In obedience to the Holy Qur’an, we
as Muslims invite Christians to come
together with us on the basis of what
is common to us, which is also what
is most essential to our faith and
practice: the Two Commandments of
love.
LOVE OF GOD AND
LOVE OF NEIGHBOR
3. A Common Word
Between Us and You
(Summary and Abridgement)
In the Name of God, the Compassionate,
the Merciful
Muslims and Christians together make up
well over half of the world’s population.
Without peace and justice between these
two religious communities, there can be no
meaningful peace in the world. The future
of the world depends on peace between
Muslims and Christians.
4. The basis for this peace and
understanding already exists. It is
part of the very foundational
principles of both faiths: love of the
One God, and love of the neighbour.
These principles are found over and
over again in the sacred texts of
Islam and Christianity.
5. The Unity of God, the necessity of love
for Him, and the necessity of love of
the neighbour is thus the common
ground between Islam and Christianity.
The following are only a few examples:
6. Of God’s Unity, God says in the Holy
Qur’an: Say: He is God, the One! / God,
the Self-Sufficient Besought of all! (Al-
Ikhlas, 112:1-2). Of the necessity of love
for God, God says in the Holy Qur’an: So
invoke the Name of thy Lord and devote
thyself to Him with a complete devotion
(Al-Muzzammil, 73:8).
7. Of the necessity of love for the
neighbour, the Prophet Muhammad r
said: “None of you has faith until you
love for your neighbour what you love
for yourself.”
8. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ u
said: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God,
the Lord is One. / And you shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, with all your mind, and with
all your strength.’ This is the first
commandment. / And the second, like it,
is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as
yourself.’ There is no other
commandment greater than these.” (Mark
12:29-31)
9. In the Holy Qur’an, God Most High enjoins
Muslims to issue the following call to
Christians (and Jews—the People of the
Scripture):
Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a
common word between us and you: that
we shall worship none but God, and that
we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and
that none of us shall take others for lords
beside God. And if they turn away, then
say: Bear witness that we are they who
have surrendered (unto Him). (Aal ‘Imran
3:64)
10. The words: we shall ascribe no partner unto
Him relate to the Unity of God, and the words:
worship none but God, relate to being totally
devoted to God. Hence they all relate to the
First and Greatest Commandment. According
to one of the oldest and most authoritative
commentaries on the Holy Qur’an the words:
that none of us shall take others for lords
beside God, mean ‘that none of us should
obey the other in disobedience to what God
has commanded’.
11. This relates to the Second Commandment
because justice and freedom of religion are a
crucial part of love of the neighbour.
Thus in obedience to the Holy Qur’an, we as
Muslims invite Christians to come together
with us on the basis of what is common to
us, which is also what is most essential to
our faith and practice: the Two
Commandments of love.
