The Mission of Segall Nonprofit Consulting “To help you build the capacity of your nonprofit agency”
What is unique about SNC I have run successful nonprofit agencies for over 20 years. For the past 15 years I have assisted hundreds of nonprofits in LA and Orange County and met the real heroes of our communities. In these difficult times, I am committed to utilize my experience to help agencies better cope with the changes in our society.
Principles of our services Consulting from the inside-out-process is important. Consultants must listen and understand if we are to be understood. The key to a successful consultation is the trust established between the consultant and the client Work to building a team with common goals and strategies.
Three keys to success Create a Strategic Plan that will energize and provide guidance to the growth of your agency. Build a forward looking and self-managed Board of Directors Create a well balanced portfolio of income based on sustainable annual income. These are all ‘capacity-building services’.
Strategic Planning An effective Strategic Plan is based on: Creating an ownership of the Plan A strategic plan must be accompanied by a business plan that outlines the resources needed, both financial and human. The job is not finished until a clear plan for implementation is agreed upon, including a time-line and assignments.
Board Development The key to an effective Board of Directors are: Making the best use of the board member’s intellectual capital. Build a functional structure to do the work of the Board. Board meetings must be rewarding a enriching and re focused on the future, not the past. Board’s that realize that they are responsible carrying out the decisions that they make.
Fund Development In today’s financial climate, agency stability is based on the creation of sustainable, annual income. Fund raising has much in common with effective sales and marketing. Fund raising is primarily about the cultivation of relationships, and all board members can be involved in this activity. Asking for money is that last, not the first thing you do.
