More than 9,000 permanent teachers from government schools are yet to furnish their property
details to the government, even though it has been four months since the new academic session
began.
As per law, school teachers have to furnish their property details to School Teacher Record
Office (STRO) through district education offices within 60 days from the beginning of the new
academic session.
Homnath Neupane, Deputy Director, STRO, said that a total of 9,487 teachers were yet to
furnish their property details. According Neupane, 66,159 teachers have submitted their property
details to STRO.
The property details of teachers finally are submitted to the National Vigilance Centre.
Neupane informed that STRO yesterday submitted the property details of those who have
already furnished them to the National Vigilance Centre.
As per the existing legal provision, teachers failing to furnish property details to STRO could be
fined up to Rs 5,000. The fine is charged by NVC as per the directives of the Commission for the
Investigation of Abuse of Authority. Currently, there are 107,853 posts of permanent teachers at
various levels in community schools across the country.
