I want my reader to understand how I have grown into computer literacy and how it has put me on the
path to becoming a computer engineer. I want to express how it wasn’t just a sudden change acquiring
this literacy how I have grown to know more about it and how in turn it has grown in changed with the
times just as fast as I was growing into it. How within computer literacy there is a culture all its own be
that gamers, poster or trolls.
I learned about a different world that lived online during my first MMORPG World of Warcraft although I
have played many games since this was my first experience in the world of online gaming. I realized that
how people communicate in these games is different than we do in real life. One of the main this is that
gamers are the first abbreviators they were doing it before texting even became popular as this
experience was early 2006 their wasn’t kids with a plethora of phones texting their friends. And this
new language that I had to learn the new slang and diction that comes along with the online world
change my perspective on the real world.
Fighting a boss in an MMO is a long and drawn out process and can take anywhere from 10 – 30 mins
depending on how much health the boss has and how much mechanics he is given. So sitting their
attacking the boss I have to monitor multiple things of myself and my group to make sure we don’t lose.
I glance down at my health bar thinking its too low so I cast a healing spell on myself. I then look up to
the party display see that one of my teammates is close to dying so I cast a nuke heal on him to bring
him back up. I then look to the field of battle and seen the pre target circles for a attack and move out of
it before I take the damage.
