A cathode ray oscilloscope can be used to analyze sound waves by displaying the electrical signals produced by a microphone. It can compare waves with different amplitudes, showing that waves with a larger amplitude carry more energy and are produced by louder sounds. It can also compare waves with different frequencies, demonstrating that waves with peaks closer together have a higher frequency and pitch.
