This study monitored the post-hibernation movements of a female aspic viper in a hedgerow system adjacent to a low traffic road in western France over a two month period. The viper was observed basking 20 times within a single hedgerow, with daily movements between 12-80 meters. The home range was estimated to be 0.094 hectares. The final observation of the viper alive was on May 28th, and it was later found dead the same day at a frequent basking location, possibly due to increased risk of predation from cooler and wetter spring weather conditions.
