6. Introduction
Have you ever had one of those moments where you lie on your bed at the end of the day feeling
regretful because you weren’t productive enough at work? You keep promising yourself that
tomorrow will be a different day and that you will be more productive but somehow for some
reason, things never turn out the way you expect them to be. You get distracted by your
colleagues, your smartphone or by a cat video and you end up not doing as much work as you
should be.
You are definitely not alone in this struggle. I know a lot of people who go through this struggle
every once in a while and I too experience it. Some people may see me as a productivity nut but I
sometimes get distracted too. There are days where I could have done more but I end up not
doing them because either my day was planned well or something unexpected came up.
Things happen. You do not have to beat up yourself for one unproductive day.

7. I. Staying Productive in the Information
Age
It seems like these days, you cannot use your phone or computer without opening an
application, whether it is Twitter, Facebook, Skype or LinkedIn. They are just everywhere.
Even that browser you are using to surf for cat videos is considered an application.
So where did apps come from exactly?
I am not going to confuse you with all the technology mumbo-jumbo. To make it easy to
understand where apps exactly came from, let us go back to a time when computer and
cellphones only came with uniform functions that developers thought users needed. Find
an old cellphone from the early 2000’s and you will see that it has the basic functions which
include the ability to make phone calls and send text messages. Aside from that, there are
also games, ringtones, calendar, alarms and a calculator. Consider these the “old school
apps” and depending on what unit you are using, you also probably had other apps like a
message screener that blocked messages from people you did not want to hear from or a
universal converter that converted stuff like weight, temperature and currency. Again, that
already depended on what cellphone unit you had.

10. IV. Taking Notes and Reminders
Sometimes, memory alone is just not enough to hold all those genius ideas. You need
something that can capture your ideas immediately. It is not all the time that you will
be carrying a pen and paper with you but one thing is for sure, you always carry your
phone with you. And the great news is that there are dozens of note-taking apps out
there that you can choose from.
Below are the top most rated note-taking apps with several features besides just
simple note-taking. You can also create to-do lists, add reminders, categorize tasks,
insert multimedia and sync it with your other devices so you can view them whether
you are at work or at home.

15. Conclusion
Phew! Those were a lot of apps, huh? I am sure that you will find the one that fits your workflow
perfectly but if not, I hope that you at least have an idea of how to incorporate these apps into
your daily life.
By now, you should already have a preference for one app over the other depending on how you
work. I want you to take the time to experiment with the ones that you liked and if you find that
it does not work for you, you can always switch to another app until you finally settle for one that
