Solve by Elimination
Section 6.3 pages 350-356
Steps to Solve by Elimination
1. Write the system so like terms are aligned.
2. Add or Subtract the entire equation.
3. Substitute the answer from step 2 into one
of the equations to solve for the other variable.
𝑆𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚
4𝑥 + 6𝑦 = 32
3𝑥 − 6𝑦 = 3
𝑆𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚
4𝑥 − 3𝑦 = 3
4𝑥 − 5𝑦 = 5
𝑆𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚
4𝑦 + 3𝑥 = 22
3𝑥 − 4𝑦 = 14
