- Tools like Invision and Sketch help web developers and designers quickly mockup a website. There isn’t a tool that yet exist for WebVR. Challenge, but an opportunity
- What experiences would make people loved? in awe? powerful? connected? important? excited? transformed?
- Avatar: A beautiful movie. Great visual effects, but is it anyone’s favorite movie? Compare that to harry potter. Millions of people would say it’s their favorite movie and I know my wife can see it as many times as she possibly can. Why - what’s the difference? Emotion.
- With VR, you have the power to turn your dreams into reality. Explore your imagination and creativity and dive deep into what drives you. Build experiences that are meaningful and touch a core human emotion
- Something that took me way too long to learn about, Github pages have become my best friend in quickly publishing my work. All of my work with A-Frame has been published with github pages.
- Publish your work and it can get published in the A-Frame blog That’s mine in bottom right and it was one of my first projects. Getting featured was really big in keeping me focused on A-Frame and it felt that my work was being recognized.
- Don’t have a younger brother? Well you’re out of luck. You need to find a friend who can give you honest and direct feedback.
- The A-Frame Slack and Twitter communities are a great place to get started Links are at the end of the deck
- Look at other people’s code New versions
- Get inspired by what other people are building
- Record all your ideas Have a system that works across your phone and computer and have it easily accessible. Include pictures, videos, stories you read, poetry, anything.
- Remix your old work. Remix other people’s work. Attribute and let people know you’re using their work, but use the open community to your advantage.
- In my experience I’ve found my biggest bottleneck is a limit of 3D assets. Drive to simplicity. How could you tell a story with a box, a sphere, and a cylinder?
- Be prepared for frustration Practice Practice Practice Not only are you learning a new framework, but you’re learning to develop in 3D. Allow yourself to make mistakes
- Read Science Fiction Especially books like Neuromancer by William Gibson Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
