The student worked on making parts for a lamp project. They measured and cut wood parts using saws, ensuring accurate measurements. Over winter break, they will connect the roof and fabric before painting and assembling the lamp using glue and nails. The student communicated well seeking help, and learned how to securely connect wood parts using screws, countersink, thread drill and glue.

What did I do?
- Making the each sides of the lamp
Today, I re-measured the part of the lamp. I measure them by using tri-ruler and a sharp pencil.
After, I measure them correctly so that made me easier to know where the part will I cut. After
finished measuring the part, I cut them using a tenon saw because tenon saw help me to cut
the wood in straight line. I used a bench hook to help me hold the wood tightly. I also used a
gents saw because others say it easier to cut a long wood with a bench hook.
Next
Next is winter break so I need to wait for 3 weeks to end. After the winter break, I will
continued to cut the roof part and put a fabric on it. I will connect al the part together and paint
them. I will Connect the roof part like a mitre joint and the lamp part I will connect it by using
PVA glue and nails.
Weakness
My weakness for today is measuring it. I always did wrongly when measuring my wood
because sometime the ruler doest help. I will change to use a steel ruler and a sharp pencil to
measure it. I will be more carefully so I will get a correct measurement of the wood.
Strength
I did well in communicate with other people if I need help. I also did well in using the crosscut
saw because I haven’t used the saw before. Crosscut saw is help to cut a bigger plane of wood
in a straight line. The blade is sharp that made me to cut the wood easily.

2. Emotions
I felt happy that my lamp is well made and I still have got no problem so far. The part of the lamp is
almost finish and I just need to make few more parts of the lamp. I also felt sad because I need to wait
for winter break to continued to finished my other part of the lamp
Why
- Why did the edge of the block have sharp edges.
The block have a sharp edges because I used a coping saw to cut it. I should have used the tenon
saw because its a straight line but coping saw for the round line.But luckily, I cut over the line so I
can plane and cut some piece of the sharp edges.
Learner Profile
I chooses communicator because I communicate with people when doing my project. I ask for help
from Mr.Anderson and my friend to help me out using tools that I haven’t used before and
communicate with them is helping me doing my project
What I learn today
Today, Mr.Anderson though use how to connect the wood together using screw. The material that we
will needed is counter sink,thread and clearness drill with a PVA glue. First, we will needed to drill the
wood with a clearness wood, and then the counter sink to make the screw wont come out form the
wood and then we use the thread drill so the screw will fit in. We test the screw and then stick them
using Pva glue and then connect them with screw.
