Introduction to the
Explain Stage
• During the explanation phase, students
learn to concretely describe and interpret
their observations. This is the phase
where direct instruction takes place and
misconceptions are clearly addressed.
• Objective: connection and interpret
with the objectives of the lesson
topics.
• Importance: Sets the foundation for
deeper understanding and inquiry-
based learning.
Explanation Activities
• This is a teacher-led phase that helps
students synthesize new knowledge and
ask questions if they need further
clarification. For the Explain phase to be
effective, teachers should ask students to
share what they learned during the
Explore phase before introducing technical
information in a more direct manner,
according to “The 5E Instructional Model:
A Learning Cycle Approach for Inquiry-
Based Teaching.
Explanation and
Inquiry
• Foster observation skills and encourage
inquiry-based learning.
• Students make observations, ask
questions, and formulate hypotheses and
we facilitator make a clear to the topic
and bring student towards the objectives
of the lesson plan.
• Encourage critical thinking as students
analyze data and draw conclusions.
• Promote curiosity by allowing students to
explore open-ended questions.
• Guide students to identify patterns,
trends, and relationships in their
observations.

• Provides definitions, new words, and explanations
• Listens and builds upon discussion form students
• Asks for clarification and justification
• Accepts all reasonable responses

• Types of transportation ,then and now.
• Features and advantages of modern vehicles.
• Compare to means of transportation.
• Challenge from vehicles.
• of Benefit of Collaborative learning.
• Creativity skills (how, what, when, What the next).
• Connection of materials made during the engage stage and
connection to objectives.

• Participants were asked to do some activities.(cut the paper
randomly)(it is hands on activities)
• Find out /compare/imagine what you have made.(explore)
• Now connection to the objectives of the lesson/unit and make
interpret the lesson with the topic and remove all the misconception
produced and imagined during engage and explore.
• Take an example from the hands on activities and summaries the
concept of the means of transportation.(explain)
