Badminton originated in China and was brought to England in the 1800s, eventually being practiced at Badminton House which is how the sport got its name. It involves hitting a shuttlecock back and forth using rackets while following basic rules like not touching the net or hitting the shuttlecock twice in a row. Players must maintain balanced basic positions and employ different strokes and serves using proper technique while following tactical principles like moving their opponent around the court. Badminton grew slowly in Catalonia but became more popular after being a demonstration sport in the 1988 Olympics and an official sport at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
