Scotland - The Fifth Mobility
From 20th to 25th September 2014, teachers from 6 countries visited the
Blackfriars Primary School in Glasgow within the framework of the
Comenius - eTwinning project – “The seven wonders of our region.”
During this time teachers from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey,
Cyprus and Poland took part in the varied educational program..

2. Slovakia
Slovakia has discovered the 4rd wonder
There are a lot of interesting places in our region and thus you can have a lot of
nice experience from them. We have discovered a piece of wild nature in our for-
est park which is situated above the city of Trenčin -the main city of our region.
It is Tanzania - an adrenaline world in the treetops where your security is your own
business. Your guarantee is not the ground under your feet but the strong climbing
equipment, a helmet on your head and a steel rope among the trees along a
whole climbing track.
You overcome swinging benches, climbing nets, an air cable, walking ropes and
ladders,...
And what is the most important? The nice feeling, when you overcome your fear,
shaking legs and hands and you reach the finish. It is amazing!

3. Bitva u Slavkova - bitva
tří císařů
Naše škola je součástí kraje, kde
se před více než 200 lety roku
1805 udála velká událost - Bitva
tří císařů. Známý vojevůdce
Napoleon vyhrál u města Slavkov
důležitou bitvu. Naše děti znají o
této bitvě hodně informací a
každý rod shlédnou rekonstrukci
této bitvy v nedaleké vesnici. Pro
mnoho návštěvníků tohoto kraje
je toto místo velkou aktrakcí.
Navštívili jsme muzeum, kde jsme
si připomněli nejdůležitější
události této bitvy. Četli knihy,
kreslili obrázky a uspořádali
besedu o Napoleonovi. V prosinci
tohoto roku ze žáci naší školy
zúčastní rekonstrukce bitvy blízko
Sivice.

4th wonder:The most attractive place
The battle of Austerlitz - Napoleon
The Battle of Austerlitz - The Battle of the Three Emperors
Our school is part of the region, where more than 200 years ago in 1805 gave
great event - the Battle of the Three Emperors. Known commander Napoleon won
at the town of Austerlitz important battle. Our children know about this battle a lot
of information and each genus watch a reconstruction of the battle in a nearby
village. For many visitors to this region, this place is great attraction.

We visited the museum, where we commemorated important events of the battle.
They read books, draw pictures and held a discussion about the Napoleon. In
December this year the pupils of our school participate in the reconstruction of the
battle near Sivice.

4. Greece
Most attractive place
Class 2 also visited Vravrona, a great wetland
some kilometers away from our school. When they
arrived there, they were able to hear many differ-
ent sounds of birds nesting in the place. They also
watched a program of the Greek Ornithological
Society, learned the names of various birds and
played role games. After that they visited the Mu-
seum of Vravrona and the Temple of Diana.
Class 6 made posters about 2 other attractive
places: Marathon Lake& Cape Sounio .

Class 2 visited the Old Town of Athens, Plaka, and walked in the narrow
streets with the old
houses, took photos
and bought souvenirs .

5. Turkey
SALT LAKE
“The sun rises above Mount Nemrut and it goes down
above Salt Lake. “
It is a general saying in Turkey as you can see the best
sunset here. Our town is by the second largest lake of
Turkey. It is SALT LAKE. Flamingos live there and many
other living forms have been found recently. It is the
biggest resource of salt of Turkey and many companies
handle salt there.
The whole school agreed on Salt Lake as the fourth
wonder. Many films, video clips were taken there and
each year there is an organization. It is a shallow lake.
Our school organized a trip there and took some photos
with students. Salt Lake is very dry between June and
September owing to hot weather and scantness of rain in
this region. In other times, it is generally wet. This trip was
at the first week of June.

Our school management visited a factory producing salt and they
collected some data. It was a discovery trip for our guests.

POETS OF THE SCHOOL
Our fourth graders wrote poems about the fourth wonder. Salt Lake has
been the topic of songs,
poems, tales in this region.
They competed with each
other but they had much fun.
They wanted to show their poems on the boards and the whole
school loved them. Some of them are so romantic, some
others being funny or touching.
The third graders wanted to draw pictures of Salt Lake but they
were very creative. Firstly, the teacher of 3/C classroom
informed the students about salt production and Salt Lake and
then one of the students brought half-handled salt (consisting
of big salt flakes) and they used salt in their pictures. At the
end of the activity, all students were looking their product
amazedly as it turned out to be magnificient rather than a
simple picture.
The best 4 works were shown on the school board.

The Winner The rope park
Poland
The rope park is the first attraction of this kind in the Brodnica area. It
was created in summer 2014, thanks to the resources gained by the
Local Fishing Group. The headmaster of The Catholic Secondary
School in Górzno, Mr Jacek Hila was the initiator of the idea. The park
covers the area of 1 ha and is located on a high, steep slope by the
glacial Górzno Lake, in Bożogrobowców Street. There are 40 m be-
tween the level of the water in the lake and the level of the Market
Square in Górzno. Walking along the paths, you can admire the views
of the lake and the village Fiałki.
The infrastructure of the park consists of ropes and obstacles and
there are 4 routes with varying levels of difficulty:
- the route for children - for the youngest visitors, with 9 obstacles and
with a safety net.
 the low router – for the beginners, with 13 obstacles
 the medium route – for more advanced visitors, with 16 obstacles
 The ropeway route – the most difficult route, consisting of 3 rope-
ways – the longest slide is 100 m long
The work on the fourth wonder went smoothly. First, classes presented
their proposals and, then, students discussed places which seemed
the most interesting for them.
The students’ choice was the rope park which offers routes for chil-
dren, teenagers and for the more experienced visitors.
A trip to the park was organized after the summer holidays. The stu-
dents from grades II and IV took part in it.
We had a great time in the beautiful surroundings of a forest and a
lake and appreciated the “jungle”.

They did some research to find out all
about their attractive place. They

an attractive presentation about their

graphs, artwork and information.

This tower is on the bank of the River Clyde
in Glasgow near the Glasgow Science Cen-
tre. It is 127 metres tall. It holds a Guinness
World Record for being the tallest tower in
the world in which the whole structure can
rotate 360 degrees.

Cyprus
Selecting the most attractive place of our region was a difficult
choice since a lot of places, buildings, parks and other sights
have their significance and beauty. So we decided to follow
again the vote procedure among students. The students of Class
E with their parents made short journeys around the area and
discovered a lot of places that were interesting for them. They
made a small research and prepare some presentations either
on computer or on posters and paper. First they presented their
work in the classroom and presented arguments in order to per-
suade their classmates to vote for their miracle.
The posters were set on boards so all students could have a
look during break time and then we proceeded in voting. Some
of the candidate places of our region were:
1. The ancient church of Saint Lazarus in Larnaca.
2. The national park of Rizoelia next to our town Aradippou.
3. The old water aqueduct (roman pipe system for carrying wa-
ter) of Kamares.
4. The beach of Finikoudes in Larnaca.
And the winner was....the promenade of Phinikoudes.

GETTING TO KNOW
Bordering Larnaka’s central coastal promenade, Phinikoudes
Beach is one of the most famous in Cyprus. “Phinikoudes”
means small palm trees (now grown into very big palm trees)
that were planted in 1922. The beach has fine grey sand and
is some 500 metres long. The width varies from 30 metres to
100 metres. The area is popular for its cafes, bars, restaurants
and hotels. There are also a large number of mini markets
close to the beach. The commercial and shopping centre of
the town is just behind the promenade. The main road, Athe-
non Avenue, is planted with palm trees, green areas and col-
ourful flowers that add to the magnificent scenery.
The beach has several services and facilities such as toilets,
showers, changing rooms, access for the disabled, sun beds
and umbrellas and water sports. Lifeguards are on duty with
lifesaving equipment during the bathing season.

There is easy and safe access to the beach by bus and car or on foot. Many car parks
are found near the beach.
The sea is clean and the water quality in line with standards set by the European Union’s
Bathing Water Directive. The sea is usually calm and the waves mild. The area is the
venue for the two-week Larnaka (Larnaca) Kataklysmos Fair, usually in June, during
which the Blue Flag is withdrawn.

From September 20th to 25th teachers from the 6 partner
schools visited the Blackfriars Primary School in Glasgow,
Scotland in the framework of the 5th project mobility. Here is
