Cyberbullying involves the use of electronic communication technologies such as phones and social media to bully others. Examples include mean texts, emails, rumors spread online or through social media, and embarrassing photos or videos. Kids who experience cyberbullying are more likely to use drugs and alcohol, skip school, experience other bullying, have lower self-esteem, and have greater health issues. Cyberbullying can occur 24/7 since electronic messages can be sent anytime and are often anonymous, which makes the bullying hard to stop. While technology is not the root cause, cyberbullying can still negatively impact victims.
