Editor's Notes

  • #179 Lectures, classes: long reading assignments, the ability to last 1.5 hours without touching their phones. Conversations: buzzing phones, or impulsively checking for messages. While studying: check email, IM, etc. Writing papers: scan and copy.
  • #183 People accumulate a lot of information, but not enough knowledge. Teachers see this a lot. Not enough thinking, reflection, synthesis goes into papers written by many students. It can also happen to us.
  • #195 Chris Lehman, Ignite Philly
  • #205 Googled yourself lately? What is your presence online saying about you to the world. Show students that what they do online reflects back upon them.
  • #211 What is appropriate in online conversation? Think of it as a new culture you are entering an you need to know their customs. Remember the Human – Don’t say it online if you wouldn’t say it in person & that people can forward e-mails on http://digiteen.wikispaces.com/Digital+Etiquette
