FMP Proposal

Working Title:
 Media-York
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
 The primary purpose of this product is to educate. However, I hope to make the
education more exciting and enjoyable than other traditional news sites. I will
achieve this through a combination of my colour scheme and the articles
themselves.
 The bright red hints will connote passion and energy while the beige and green
will give it a local more friendly feel.
 For the articles I will make sure they include a lot of facts while still being snappy
and interesting to read.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
 News/media website
What sort of product is it
Content
 My product will be heavily themed around York and how the effects of modern-day
politics affect York and the UK as a whole. Because of research I will also include
a good amount of international news. The entire website should look like a new
and updated news website that looks fit for the younger generation. Actual content
I will include:
 News Articles including: BLM essay,Local Mp’s (RachelMaskell and Julian Sturdy) and
Climate change.
 Media Articles including: The mass GPU (Graphics card) and electrical shortage, Esports
and what’s next for the industry after Covid-19.
 Newsletter signup tab/sheet, this newsletter will include little snippets of local news while
then talking about the website as a whole.
 The website should have pictures of York throughout to keep a consistent theme.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience:
 Age, Primary: 13-20 Secondary: 21-35
My product will appeal to this age range through the red in the colour scheme and faster
paced articles. One big goal for these articles is to make them no longer than 4-6
paragraphs so they can easily be read in 5-10 minutes. This should make them much more
appealing to this audience.
 Gender, Primary: Male Secondary: Female
The colour scheme is mostly gender neutral so I'm hoping to hook a person through my
articles and colour scheme rather than targeting specific gender. However, certain articles
will be targeted towards specific genders.
 Social status, Primary: Working-class Secondary: Middle-class
This website will run of donations so it will be completely free and easy to access. I will
also talk about class issues and the political initiative surrounding it.
 Psychographic, Primary: Balanced Secondary: Type A
The website will include articles talking about climate change, York’s polluted river and
new solutions/innovations.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
FMP Proposal

Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
 The website may include controversial articles however there will be no offensive material
anywhere on the website.
 The website will put warnings on individual articles that require viewer digression.
However, there will be no restrictions to accessing the website itself.
 The website will not include anything to offend anyone. This will be achieved by doing
multiple checks before publishing an article. Disclaimer* (There is a difference between
controversial articles and articles that will offend people however, the line is very thin)
 The website will perform multiple checks on an article before publishing to ensure no one
gets offended.
 The website may mention certain names/logos/characters throughout articles.
 This product should look very different compared to other websites and be sufficiently
different. The website and the articles themselves will be checked to ensure originality.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
