This document provides an overview of Bulgaria's 45 years of space activities. Some key points:
- Bulgaria began participating in space research in 1969 through the Intercosmos program, preparing experiments for satellites.
- In 1972, Bulgaria's first satellite apparatus P-1 was launched, making Bulgaria the 18th country to explore space.
- Bulgaria has since participated in experiments on the International Space Station and other international collaborations.
- The Space Research and Technology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences coordinates Bulgaria's national space program and has developed experiments in areas like aerospace engineering, remote sensing, and space medicine.
Seven temperate terrestrial planets around the nearby ultracool dwarf star TR...Sérgio Sacani
One aim of modern astronomy is to detect temperate, Earth-like
exoplanets that are well suited for atmospheric characterization.
Recently, three Earth-sized planets were detected that transit (that
is, pass in front of) a star with a mass just eight per cent that of
the Sun, located 12 parsecs away1. The transiting configuration of
these planets, combined with the Jupiter-like size of their host star—
named TRAPPIST-1—makes possible in-depth studies of their
atmospheric properties with present-day and future astronomical
facilities1–3. Here we report the results of a photometric monitoring
campaign of that star from the ground and space. Our observations
reveal that at least seven planets with sizes and masses similar
to those of Earth revolve around TRAPPIST-1. The six inner
planets form a near-resonant chain, such that their orbital periods
(1.51, 2.42, 4.04, 6.06, 9.1 and 12.35 days) are near-ratios of small
integers. This architecture suggests that the planets formed farther
from the star and migrated inwards4,5. Moreover, the seven planets
have equilibrium temperatures low enough to make possible the
presence of liquid water on their surfaces6–8.

In this paper with the reference of NASA’s MARS Curiosity Rover, this project is meant for a low cost, lightweight and small size unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) which is controlled by NI-myRIO a hardware component of National Instruments can be used for surveying and determining the natural conditions for living beings like identification of gases, collection of picture samples etc., It consists of six individual motors with lightweight chassis for achieving various movements of rover, gas sensors, camera with servos, long-lasting power supply with its required communication tools. The Six wheeled Rover with three or more suspension alignments will move and collect various samples for identification of gases and taking pictures around the astronomical areas automatically by the automated movements.
This was a talk I gave at CU Boulder SEDs in Nov 2011 to showcase the variety and opportunities for student-run science and engineering experiments on suborbital platforms. The area of suborbital space is rapidly expanding and is set to change how we expand our use of technology for future science and exploration space missions.
Presentation aimed at general public.
I presented our space mission design from Summer School Alpbach at the International Graduate Summer School for Aeronautics and Astronautics (IGSS) at Beihang University, Beijing/China.
The presentation was very well received and was among the best of the entire summer school.

ChemCam-like device on Mars in 2020 would perform optical isotopic analysis f...Alexander Bolshakov
New NASA mission to Mars in 2020 would likely be packed with more advanced instruments. Laser Ablation Molecular Isotopic Spectrometry (LAMIS) is being developed to extend the capabilities of Curiosity's existing instrument, ChemCam, to perform isotopic analysis from a distance. Isotopic variations shed light on the origin and evolution of planets. Living processes lead to distinctive isotope patterns thereby providing clues to life's chemical processes. Bolshakov and co-workers have developed a technique called LAMIS - laser ablation molecular isotopic spectrometry that would extend the capabilities of one of Curiosity's existing instruments, ChemCam, to perform optical isotopic analysis.
Reference Guide To The International Space StationSérgio Sacani
The International Space Station is a unique place – a convergence of science, technology and human innovation that demonstrates new technologies and makes research breakthroughs not possible on Earth.
It is a microgravity laboratory in which an international crew of six people live and work while traveling at a speed of five miles per second, orbiting Earth every 90 minutes.
The space station has been continuously occupied since November 2000. In that time, more than 200 people from 15 countries have visited.
Crew members spend about 35 hours each week conducting research in many disciplines to advance scientific knowledge in Earth, space, physical, and biological sciences for the benefit of people living on our home planet.
The station facilitates the growth of a robust commercial market in low-Earth orbit, operating as a national laboratory for scientific research and facilitating the development of U.S. commercial cargo and commercial crew space transportation capabilities.
More than an acre of solar arrays provide power to the station, and also make it the next brightest object in the night sky after the moon. You don’t even need a telescope to see it zoom over your house. And we’ll even send you a text message or email alert to let you know when (and where) to look up, spot the station, and wave!

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
