   Project was developed during training programme of BMGf Global Library
    Leader and Innovators Program at the Mortenson Center for International
    Library Programs (University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign,
    USA)
   12 librarians from different regions of Latvia took part in this training
    program in the USA which lasted for a month, form September 10 til
    October 10 in 2010.
   As a part of this program, three different projects were carried out in
    Latvia, they were:
    ◦ 3i – see, capture, place (Ezernieki, Kursishi, Pure, Ugale libraries)
    ◦ “Library comes to its’ user ” (Aluksne, Klintaine, Ogre, Pededze
       libraries)
    ◦ Photovoice strengthens families and activates the society (Broceni,
       Jerceni, Staicele, Viesatu libraries)
   Total costs covered by BMGF for each project were 10 000$ .
   Project “3i – see, capture, place” is carried out by
    Ezernieki, Kursishi, Pure and Ugale libraries in
    cooperation with local communities.
   The project is performed within the Leader and
    Innovator Program with the support of Mortenson Center
    and “Third father's son” project.
   Project is managed by state agency “Culture and
    information systems”.
   Project is supported by Dagda municipality Ezernieki
    parish, Saldus municipality Kursishi parish, Tukums
    municipality Pure and Jaunsatu parish, Ventspils
    municipality Councils.
   Duration of the project as from February 2011 until
    December 2011.
   To strengthen the capacity of librarians and potential of
    involving local society into production of local content in
    order to display uniqueness of the community.
   To promote creativity and spending qualitative free time.
   To display events at the local community in a form or
    chronics at the libraries’ portal.
   To develop traditions of local history studies bringing
    them onto new quality – collection of interactive
    materials (photos, video).
   To facilitate volunteer movement at the library work.
   Training of the concerned users on filming, making video
    clips and editing photoes.
   Equipment purchase (video, audio cameras, TV, DVD
    player, projectors) for all four libraries taking part in the
    project.
   “3i” pilot action – society documents events and local
    environment.
   Materials of the local history studies – on the Internet, at
    the library archive.
   Arranging photo exhibitions, video clips’ displays.
   Publicity of the project.
   Cooperation between libraries
   Experience at carrying out international, inter-
    municipality project.
   Improving material and technical base of the library.
   Diversification of the materials on local history studies.
   Involvment of the society and embodying volunteer
    traditions.
   Encouraging of the local patriotism
   Improved the cooperation between local athorities and
    non-governmental organization, the image of the library
    is fortified.
   Availability of local community content in the Internet
    environment for remote users.
   Colleagues have acquired enough experience and
    knowledge during seminars for librarians, publications on
    the Latvian libraries’ portal to open and provide new
    services for the clients in their local communities.
