This document discusses 3D visualizations of cloud data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument. It describes AIRS's capabilities and data products related to clouds. It then discusses approaches taken to spatially represent clouds based on AIRS data and visualize them in 2D and 3D. Issues with initial approaches are presented along with solutions. Goals of improving cloud visualizations through coloring, interactivity, animation, and comparing to other datasets are outlined. Future directions are proposed to make the visualizations more useful and accessible to scientists.
