Background
Basically a Mechanical Engineer, I have worked with the petroleum industry for 33
years since April1972 to April 2005. I was on my own, running a Recruitment
company till 2007 and then took up a 2 years 3 months assignment as Advisor to
Delhi International Airport Ltd. a GMR Group company mandated to modernise,
expand and operate the Delhi International Airport.
My work experience, from the beginning, has been as follows:
1. Worked for 22 years in various functions and positions related to marketing
operations with IBP Co. Ltd, a public sector oil company in India, now a part
of Indian Oil Corporation.
2. 8 years as Advisor - Business Development & Operations for India, Sri
Lanka and Bangladesh with Coastal Corporation, a USA based, Fortune
500 Energy Company, now merged with El Paso, another multinational
giant in the energy sector.
3. 1 & ½ years with The Petroleum Federation of India as Director - Policy &
Planning. PetroFed is a federation of national and international hydrocarbon
companies.
4. 1 year with Essar Oil Ltd., an oil company in the private sector as General
Manager (Retail) – North Zone at Delhi. Left the company due to inability to
relocate to Kolkata as COO & Zonal Head – East.

2. 5. Owned and managed the Chandigarh branch of a New Zealand based HR
Services MNC as a Business Partner for about a year and a half. The
company specialised in executive recruitment, training and development.
6. I was associated, from July 2007 to September 2009, with Delhi International
Airport limited (DIAL), a GMR group company, involved with modernisation,
development and operations of Delhi International Airport, as ADVISOR, to
assist in setting up ATF facilities and all oil companies related matters.
Skills developed as a manager
It is just a coincidence that at each new place of work, I was involved in establishing
a new set up, both in terms of infrastructure as well as business. The skills
developed with such varied experience in management of establishments,
work force and business make me comfortable in any job situation, within the
petroleum industry or even outside in staff / support functions. Some of these
major skills are:
(i) General Management related

multinational, fully integrated Energy Company
1. Dealing at international level – interacting with people of various

2. Scanning market developments collect relevant information and build up a
database for the Indian petroleum industry.
3. Keeping track of and analyzing government policies affecting the area of
proposed business.
