Professional interest
Financial management and taxation being subjects which interest me the most, coupled with my interest in case solving, I would like
to join a multinational accounting firm, preferably under the Transactions & Restructuring services. This would enable me to utilise
and enhance my analytical and strategic skills, while significantly contributing to the success of the organisation.
My second preference would be in the indirect taxation service, keeping in mind the scope of growth in this field, with the introduction
of GST likely in the coming 2-3 years and the newly framed Service Tax laws.

Professional experience
Grant Thornton India LLP (Walker, Chandiok & Co.) October 2011 – October 2013
As an articled assistant, I got a good exposure through a variety of assurance assignments such as statutory audits, limited
reviews, tax audits, special accounting advisory services and IPO services. These helped me get a good insight into corporate
accountancy, transaction audit, other regulatory matter and overall functioning of businesses.
The nature of assurance work has also helped me understand the importance of quality client service, work and time
management, team work and to keep oneself technically updated at all times.
Following are the industries I was exposed to:
o Manufacturing
a) Rice industry: Audited two major players, one of which included a special audit as a part of an IPO services
project for the listing of a client on the NYSE, the same was a 7 months IFRS assignment. Work involved looking
mainly into payroll, receivables and fraud checks.
b) Processed foods: Part of the audit team for the second largest food processing group in the UK, for which I
travelled to England, as a joint project with Grant Thornton, UK.
Auditing an entire company of the group by myself, gave me a good holistic perspective of the modalities of
the entire business, it’s risk factors, the regulatory environment in England and also an exposure to a very
different and highly productive working environment.
2. o Real estate
I was a part of the statutory audit team and also conducted limited reviews for two consecutive years, for
two of the largest Indian real estate groups.
Got a detailed understanding of the types of transactions, land acquisition deals, complex arrangements,
the accounting framework and the regulatory matters of the industry. Also, I was exposed to income tax
matters involving the IT Settlement Commission and search & seizure cases.
o Services
a) Facility management:
I was part of the statutory audit team and also conducted limited reviews for a large company
engaged the business of facility management and power generation for the running and
maintenance for malls and commercial spaces.
This involved a lot of trend and reasonableness analysis.
b) Logistics:
Auditing the Indian segment of a global logistics giant, helped me develop a good
understanding of the international export and import procedures and types of transactions.
This also involved analysis and test of controls of the company.
I was consistently acknowledged for outstanding performance, ownership, good client communication, quick adaptability and
strong team and leadership skills. Also, I was awarded as one of the best articled assistants all over India.
Orient Craft Limited (Industrial training) October 2013 – December 2014
I undertook industrial training in the last year of my articleship with this manufacturing and export house. As a part of the
finance and accounts team, I got a good exposure to a hardcore manufacturing business and how things work, this time from
the auditee’s perspective.
KPMG (BSR & Co.) July 2010 – August 2010
Before my IPCC exams, I did a month long internship with KPMG in the assurance services.
