In order to have a sentence,
you must have both a subject and a predicate.
Subject – what the sentence is about; the “who” or the
“what” that is performing the action
Ask yourself: “Who or what is performing the action?”
The little dog barked at the mailman.
The cute baby cried in her crib.
Predicate (verb) – what the subject is doing or performing;
also referred to as the verb of the sentence
Ask yourself: “What is the subject doing or performing?”
The little dog barked at the mailman.
