The Gupta Empire began declining in the early 5th century AD and fell in 528 AD. By 500 AD, much of the empire's territory in northwest India had been overrun by the Hun people. The Gupta Empire had dominated northern India for several centuries but internal weaknesses and invasions caused its eventual downfall in 528 AD.
