This document argues that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven based on passages from the Bible. It provides multiple reasons from scripture why Jesus alone can save and forgive sins, including that he is the living stone chosen by God, the only one to come from heaven and return there, lived a perfect life, and is the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. The document concludes that eternal life in heaven is only possible through faith in Jesus, as he alone has the words of eternal life.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind
by which we must be saved.”(Acts 4:12).
As Christianswe knowthat Jesusisthe onlywayto heaven. Butsuchan exclusivestatementmaygrate
on the postmodernear,butitis true nonetheless.The Bibleteachesthatthere isnootherwayto
salvationthanthroughJesusChrist.JesusHimself saysin John14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life.No one comes to the Father except throughme.” He is nota way,as inone of many; He isthe way,
as inthe one and only.Noone,regardlessof reputation,achievement,special knowledge,orpersonal
holiness,cancome toGod the Father exceptthroughJesus.
Whenbelieverssaythat Jesusisthe onlywayto heaven itisfor several reasons. Jesusisreferredasthe
‘livingstone’chosenbyGodthat was rejectedbyhumansaswe read from 1 Peter 2:4, “As you come to
him,the livingStone—rejectedby humansbutchosen by Godand preciousto him.” Fromthe gospels
we alsolearnthat Jesusisthe only ‘One’tohave come downfromheavenandreturnedthere asstated
inJohn 3:13,“No one has ever gone into heavenexcept the one who came from heaven—theSonof
Man.” He isthe onlypersonto have livedaperfecthumanlife:“Forwedo not havea high priest whois
unableto empathize withour weaknesses, but we have one who hasbeen tempted inevery way, just
as we are—yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15). He is the onlysacrifice forsin of the whole world: “Heis
the atoningsacrificefor our sins,and notonly for oursbut alsofor the sinsof the wholeworld.” (1John
2:2).
Jesussaidthat He came to fulfillthe Lawandthe Prophets:“Donotthink that I have come to abolish
the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolishthembut to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17). Jesusis
the onlyman to have conquereddeathforever aswe can learnfrom Hebrews2:14–15, “Since the
childrenhave fleshand blood,he too sharedin their humanityso that by hisdeath he mightbreak the
power of himwho holdsthe power of death—thatis,the devil— 15
andfree those who all their lives
were heldin slavery by their fear of death.” He is the onlyMediatorbetweenGodandman:“For there
is one Godandone mediator between Godand mankind,the manChrist Jesus.”(1Timothy2:5).He is
the onlyman whomGod has “exalted... to the highestplace”aswe can learnfrom Philippians2:9,
“Therefore Godexalted himto the highestplaceand gave himthe namethat is above every name.”
Furtherto above, Jesus clearly spoke of Himself asthe onlywaytoheaveninseveral placesbesides John
14:6 thatwe have statedabove. InadditionJesusChristalso presentedHimself asthe objectof faithin
Matthew 7:21–24, “Noteveryone who saysto me, ‘Lord,Lord,’ will enter the kingdomof heaven,but
onlythe one whodoes the will of my Father who is inheaven. 22
Manywill say to me onthat day,
‘Lord, Lord, didwe notprophesy inyour name and inyour name drive out demonsand inyour name
perform manymiracles?’ 23
Then I will tell them plainly,‘Inever knew you. Awayfrom me, you
evildoers!’“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mineand puts them intopractice is like a
wise manwho builthis houseon the rock. We can learnthatJesus saidHiswords are life asstatedin
John6:63, “The Spiritgives life;the flesh countsfor nothing.The words I have spoken to you—theyare
full of the Spiritand life.”

2. Jesusalsopromisedthatthose whobelieve inHimwillhave eternallife aswe readin John3:14–15,
“Just as Moseslifted upthe snake inthe wilderness,sothe Sonof Man mustbe liftedup,15
that
everyone who believes mayhave eternal life inhim.” Jesus referred tohumanityasHissheepand
Himself asthe shepherd whowasthe gate of the sheep aswe can read from John10:7, “Therefore Jesus
saidagain, “Very trulyI tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.” JesusChristsaidthathe was the breadof
life.Thisisbecause He wasreferringtothe Breadof Life as the spiritual foodneededbyman.Without
the breadof life mancannotlive spiritually.Justasphysicallymanneedstoeatinorderto live,the
breadof life givesnourishmentforthe soul.Unlessone eatsfromthe breadof live he orshe faces
eternal death. We can readin John6:35, “Then Jesus declared, “Iam the bread of life.Whoever comes
to me will never go hungry,and whoever believesin me will never be thirsty.” We can also learnof an
important statementmade by Jesusin John11:25, “Jesus saidto her, “I am the resurrection and the
life.The one who believesin me will live, even thoughthey die.” No one on earth,can rightlyclaim
those titles!
We can learnfromthe gospelswhere the apostles’preachingreferredtoJesusasthe onlywayto
heaven. We can readwhere Peter,speakingtothe Sanhedrin,clearlyproclaimedJesusasthe onlyway
to heaven:“Salvationisfoundinnoone else, forthere is no other name under heavengiven to
mankindby whichwe mustbe saved” (Acts4:12). Paul,speakingtothe synagogue inAntioch,singled
out Jesusasthe Savior: “I want youto knowthat through Jesusthe forgivenessofsinsis proclaimedto
you. Throughhim everyone who believesis set free fromevery sin” (Acts 13:38–39). John,writingto
the church at large,specifiesthe name of Christasthe basisof our forgiveness: “Iamwritingto you,
dear children, because your sinshave been forgivenon accountof his name” (1 John2:12). The gospels
clearlystate thatNO one but Jesuscanforgive sin. “Therefore, my friends,I want youto know that
throughJesus the forgivenessof sinsis proclaimedto you.’(Acts13:38). Forgiveness,isstepone when
one’sfocuseson enteringheaven!
Eternal life inheavenismade possible onlythroughChrist.Jesusprayed, “Nowthisiseternal life:that
they may know you,the onlytrue God,and Jesus Christ,whomyou have sent” (John17:3). To receive
God’sfree giftof salvation,we mustlooktoJesusand Jesusalone.We musttrustinJesus’ deathonthe
cross as our paymentforsinand inHis resurrection. We canlearnfrom Romans 3:22, “This
righteousnessfromGodcomes through faithinJesus Christto all who believe.”
At one pointinJesus’ministry,manyof the crowdwere turningtheirbacksonHimand leavinginhopes
of findinganothersavior. We can readfrom John 6:67, “Youdo not want to leave too,do you?” Jesus
asked the Twelve.?” Inreply:“SimonPeter answered him,“Lord,to whomshall we go? Youhave the
words ofeternal life. 69
Wehave come to believe and to know that youare the Holy One of God.”(John
6:68–69). As Christiansourfinal destinationwe desire isheavenwherewe are promisedaneternitywith
God. Therefore ourprayeristhat youmay share Peter’sfaiththateternal life residesonlyinJesusChrist.
