- #2 By now we have been selling VEU for quite some time and got to fully understand and appreciate the value that VESDA-E brings to our customer base. Today we are going to go through an overview of the VESDA-E VEP product which extends the VESDA-E reach to every day applications…
- #3 We have all seen this time chart which shows the VESDA journey from the very beginning to where we are today. In recent times we have released exciting products like VEU and VEA, but VEP is the one product that will continue the VESDA journey and bring VESDA-E to every day applications. VEP is certainly tomorrow’s technology today.
- #4 VEP is built on the same 4 competencies that VEU is built on, which are: Air sampling in terms of the fluid mechanics, the ASPIRE-E modelling and efficiency of operation Image processing in terms of using a CMOS imaging chip inside the Flair detection chamber Optics in terms of using short wavelength laser light source, multiple photos diodes and the clean air barrier of course, and Interoperation of light where we look at light scattering in different angles and directions
- #5 By now we are all well aware of the pillars that VESDA-E is built on: Smoke+ in terms of improved sensitivity. As you know VEU provides 15 times higher sensitivity than VLP, whereas VEP provides 1.5 times the sensitivity. VEP provides the same dust rejection capability, stability under temperature, consistency of performance over time. VEP certainly supports StaX, so when the Auto Pipe clean StaX, for instance, becomes available it will be used with both VEU and VEP. Similarly Analytics is also available to provide targeted detection for effective response resulting in ultimate situational awareness VESDA-E connectivity in terms of USB, Ethernet and WiFi is available on ALL VESDA-E products. Last but not least VEP certainly helps reduce the TCO through modular in design simplifying service and maintenance which reduces the Opex, VEP also features many plug and play aspects, backwards compatibility and the same monitoring options including iVESDA.
- #6 Now looking at the value that VEP brings to our customers: The Flair detection chamber is a key component of the VEP product which combines imaging technology with light scattering to provide improved detection performance, reliability in terms of dust rejection and stability, and of course the ability to provide particle type characterisation which enables analytics for targeted detection and unprecedented situation awareness. VEP offers significant usability advantages through many features such as out-of-box operation with the AutoConfig function which aids commissioning, an intuitive 3.5” display for immediate status monitoring and iVESDA for proactive maintenance & simplified monitoring.
- #7 VEP does support StaX modules such as the integrated power supply, PSU StaX and the Auto pipe clean StaX for cleaning the pipe network. Of course the concept of StaX protects the end-user’s initial investment and accommodates future needs. Another key value that VEP brings is Backward compatibility. Obviously we have the largest ASD installed base in the world with well over 400,000 detectors out there. Some of these will need to be replaced at some point in time. VEP allows for expedient and seamless retrofit due to identical footprint, pipe conduits, and relays order and compatibility with VESDAnet and monitoring of the entire network via iVESDA. Total cost of ownership (TCO) is another key value of VEP. The longer pipe runs enable convenient detector mounting reducing the cost of maintenance and the modular design lends itself to easier field serviceability and reduced down. Not to mention VEP’s various “plug & play” features provide for an improved user experience and reduced installation and monitoring cost.
- #8 So the question now is what are we trying to achieve with the VEP product. There are 3 objectives from a business perspective: Protect our exiting VESDA revenue by keeping competition at bay. The VEP capabilities that help achieve this objective are the Flair detection technology for ultimate detection performance reliability & stability. The improved usability, the expandability through StaX, backward compatibility and reduced TCO. And we have discussed these capabilities on the previous slides. The 2nd key objectives is to use VEP as a catalyst for upgrade. The key VEP feature that helps achieve this objective is the backward compatibility. We can also use other VEP features such the Flair technology, iVESDA and analytics to promote upgrade. The 3rd objectives it to use VEP to generate new revenue. The key VEP features that help achieve this objectives are analytics and StaX.

- #10 This table shows a comparison between VEP and VLP. The key differences include the Flair detection chamber which we have discussed in great detail. VEP provides 1.5 x higher sensitivity than VLP by allowing the Fire 1 threshold to be set to 0.01%/m versus 0.015%/m for VLP. Of course VEP provides longer linear and branched pipe, 280m and 560m respectively. VEP provides 2 GPI’s versus 1 for VLP. Not to mention the analytics, StaX, various connectivity options. Please make sure you are familiar with this table when presenting to customers.
- #11 There are two models available for sale; the VEP-A00-P with LEDs and the VEP-A10-P with 3.5” display. Here on the slide you can see the different pages available through the 3.5” display. The first page shows the zone number, name, the smoke levels and alarm thresholds, as well as various fault icons. The second page shows the pipes in use, airflow percentages, the 3rd page shows filter status as well as the status of Autolearn smoke/flow and airflow normalisation.
- #12 As you may recall at the every beginning of the presentation, we mentioned that VEP truly continues the VESDA journey. So this is where we are today with VESDA and VEU. VEP is planned to be available for sale in Nov 2015, and of course we will release VES and VEC in due course.
