This document compares the seismic analysis of an 8-story building using manual calculations and ETABS software. A 22.5m x 22.5m reinforced concrete building with a height of 24m was modeled. Dead, live, and seismic loads were calculated manually according to Indian code IS 1893:2002 and applied in ETABS. Time period, design base shear, and distribution of shear to floors were determined by both methods. Results from the two approaches were similar but not identical, with manual calculations giving slightly higher base shear values. The document provides guidelines for performing seismic coefficient analysis both manually and in ETABS and concludes that either method can accurately analyze building response.
