This document discusses the evolution of education from the industrial age to the present and considers what education may look like in the future. In the past, during the industrial age, primary school taught everyone the basics, secondary school had an academic focus, and tertiary education was only for a minority. The economy was based on exploiting natural resources and mass production with clearly defined roles for owners, managers, and workers. Now, the presentation questions whether current education practices still focus too much on disciplining and drafting students for the industrial model or if education should prepare students for 21st century learning and a changing economy.
