RECOGNITION
Cultural Vantage Point
Eastern Culture
• People in the East are
frequently rigid in their views
and beliefs. They don't easily
question or compromise with
long-standing traditions and
conventions.
• Elders are regarded as the
head of the home in eastern
cultures, and young people
frequently consult them about
decisions and follow their
advice.
-In eastern culture,
people who are older
or have higher
professional
qualifications are seen
as more respectful
and significant.
-In western culture,
relationships are not
hierarchical and
everyone is treated
with equal importance
and respect,
regardless of age or
level of education
Furthermore, people in the
WEST are more task-focused
when it comes to how they
spend their time; they view it
as money and want to
complete tasks quickly,
whereas people in the EAST are
more event-focused and enjoy
investing time in fostering
relationships.
People in the WEST
value honesty over
harmony when it comes
to speech, whereas
those in the EAST would
rather speak a lie and
preserve harmony in a
relationship than speak
the truth.
Another difference between
eastern and western
cultures is that people from
the West have more
freedom and flexibility to
make decisions on their
own, as opposed to people
from the East, where
families tend to make
decisions more
collectively. Since love is
regarded as the only way
people enter marriage,
arranged marriages are
not a prominent aspect of
western culture.
Parallels between
eastern and
western cultures
Western education emphasizes creativity
and gives students the freedom to reach
their full potential. Achievement in
Eastern education is correlated with
adversity and diligence.,
students from eastern cultures
frequently achieve academic success in
western educational settings.
In a nutshell,
there are many
similarities
between eastern
and western
cultures at this
time, but each
culture should be
respected for
what it stands for
and has
accomplished.
