Twentieth Century Fox is one of the six major American film studios located in Los Angeles. It was formed in 1935 through the merger of Twentieth Century Pictures and Fox Film Corporation. Some of Twentieth Century Fox's most popular franchises include Avatar, Star Wars, Ice Age, and X-Men. Avatar was a highly successful film that used groundbreaking motion capture and 3D technology developed by director James Cameron. Though its budget was between $237-310 million, Avatar grossed over $2.7 billion at the global box office. For its next project, Twentieth Century Fox was working on the romantic comedy Monte Carlo starring Selena Gomez.
