The Aldar Headquarters building in Abu Dhabi was commissioned by Muhammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, the Chairman of Tourism and Culture, to serve as an iconic landmark on Al Raha Beach. Designed by MZ Architects and constructed from 2007-2010, the 123,000 square meter circular headquarters features 25 above-ground floors and 5 below-ground floors. With its unique semispherical design made of recycled glass, steel, and concrete, the Aldar Headquarters was intended to compete with other iconic architecture in the UAE and establish a sense of identity for the area.
