Virtualization with KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine)Novell
As a technical preview, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 contains KVM, which is the next-generation virtualization software delivered with the Linux kernel. In this technical session we will demonstrate how to set up SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 for KVM, install some virtual machines and deal with different storage and networking setups.
To demonstrate live migration we will also show a distributed replicated block device (DRBD) setup and a setup based on iSCSI and OCFS2, which are included in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 and SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 High Availability Extension.
XPDDS17: Shared Virtual Memory Virtualization Implementation on Xen - Yi Liu,...The Linux Foundation
Shared Virtual Memory (SVM) is a VT-d feature that allows sharing application address space with the I/O device. The feature works with the PCI sig Process Address Space ID (PASID). With SVM, programmer gets a consistent view of memory across host application and device, avoids pining or copying overheads. We have been working on supporting SVM in Xen to enable SVM usage in guest if a SVM capable device is assigned. e.g. assign IGD to a guest, applications like OpenCL would benefit if SVM is supported in guest. SVM virtualization requires exposing a virtual VT-d to guest. In this discussion, Yi would update the latest SVM virtualization implementation and foresee the future work about supporting SVM and IOVA a single virtual VT-d.
OpenShift Virtualization - VM and OS Image LifecycleMihai Criveti
Building and packaging OS Images with KVM, qemu-img and podman and deploying them onto Kubernetes and KubeVirt with OpenShift Virtualization
Build and create images using Hashicorp Packer and Kickstart - create layered images for multiple cloud providers.

Upgrade to IBM z/OS V2.4 technical actionsMarna Walle
Yes, "upgrade" is the new name for these traditional "migration" sessions! This is part one of a two-part session that will be of interest to System Programmers and their managers who are upgrading to z/OS 2.4 from either z/OS 2.2 or 2.3. It is strongly recommended that you review sessions for a complete upgrade picture.
The general availability date for z/OS V2.4 was September 30, 2019.
This is the planning part of a two-part session for system programmers and their managers who are planning on upgrading to z/OS V2.4. In part one, the focus is on preparing your current system for upgrading to either release. The system requirements to run and how to prepare your system for the upgrade are discussed. Part two covers the only upgrade details for upgrading to z/OS V2.4 from either V2.2 or V2.3. It is strongly recommended that you attend both sessions for an upgrade picture for z/OS V2.4.

Cloud native architecture is emerging for Telecom workloads. To support these emerging trends, Intel is targeting enhancements to the Dataplane Development Kit (DPDK). The enhancements would target network service mesh with dedicated sidecar accelerators and the mechanism to build the mesh dynamically.
Speaker: Gerald Rogers. Gerald Rogers is a Principal Engineer in the Network Products Group focused on virtual switching, network function virtualization and Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK). After joining Intel in 2005, Gerald has worked as a software engineer and architect in the embedded and networking groups. For the past 7 years Gerald has led the network virtual switching software and hardware acceleration effort to drive Intel architecture into the networking and telecommunications industry. Gerald holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, and has 20 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications industry.
eBPF is an exciting new technology that is poised to transform Linux performance engineering. eBPF enables users to dynamically and programatically trace any kernel or user space code path, safely and efficiently. However, understanding eBPF is not so simple. The goal of this talk is to give audiences a fundamental understanding of eBPF, how it interconnects existing Linux tracing technologies, and provides a powerful aplatform to solve any Linux performance problem.
Linux on RISC-V with Open Source Hardware (Open Source Summit Japan 2020)Drew Fustini
Want to run Linux on open hardware? This talk will explore how the RISC-V, an open instruction set (ISA), and open source FPGA tools can be leveraged to achieve that goal. I will explain how myself and others at Hackaday Supercon teamed up to get Linux running on a RISC-V soft-core in the ECP5 FPGA on the conference badge. I will introduce Migen, LiteX and Vexriscv, and explain how they enabled us to quickly implement an SoC in the FPGA capable of running Linux. I will also explore other Linux-capable open source RISC-V implementations, and how some are being used in industry. Finally, I will look at what Linux-capable "hard" RISC-V SoC's currently exist, and what is on the horizon for 2021. This talk is should be relevant to people who are interested in building open hardware systems capable of running Linux. It should also be useful to people who are curious about RISC-V. Software engineers may find it exciting to learn how Python can be used to for chip-level design with Migen and LiteX, and simplify building a System-on-Chip (SoC) for an FPGA.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Based on IBM internal testing of Db2 Warehouse executing a sample analytics workload of 30 distinct queries of varying complexity (intermediate and complex). Results valid as of May 3, 2022 and conducted under laboratory conditions, individual results can vary based on workload
size, use of storage subsystems and other conditions. Comparison is based on queries per hour on IBM Power S1022 (2x16core/1TB) versus Intel Xeon Platinum 8380-based (2x40-core/1TB) systems. Test was run with IBM Db2 Warehouse on Cloud Pak for Data 4.0.6 and Red Hat

• No sub-capacity available Power9 servers resulted in idle cores and unwanted software maintenance costs
• Complexity to move from Static to Enterprise Pools
• Required processor conversions from Static to Pools
• Required cores conversions from Static to Pools
• Multiple costs to migrate
• Simplified move from CUoD to Enterprise Pools
• Only convert the CUoD cores to base core activations and only pays for the core price difference
