This document provides information about a hematology/oncology fellowship program between Keck Graduate Institute and AbbVie. The 2-year program will provide 90% industry training at AbbVie and 10% academia-focused training. Fellows will rotate through medical information, medical strategy, and an elective third rotation. The application process was outlined and attendees were encouraged to ask questions of the panelists, which include current and past fellows as well as fellowship directors.

• Founded in 2018
• Objective: Provide exceptional biopharmaceutical industry
training for scientific doctorate graduates with a broad
exposure to the areas fundamental to drug discovery,
development and commercialization
• Focus: Developing a deep understanding of how companies
operate (90-10 structure) to hone the business and clinical
skills of fellows
• Aim: Foster professional development, provide intensive,
hands-on training, and expose fellows to a variety of industry
and academia-based opportunities

• 9-weeks of live (Zoom) or pre-recorded seminars on topics related to
teaching and precepting
• Teaching, small group facilitation, OSCE participation, IPPE/APPE

• Ends with a celebration in June 2023, where residents and fellows will
gather at KGI to give a final presentation and complete certificate

Medical Affairs functions to share scientific knowledge and clinical advancements with the rest of
the medical community, while also receiving input from the community to help guide which
direction the company should go in optimizing therapy and patient care.
Fellows will have the opportunity to understand various aspects of medical strategy, scientific
communication, medical review, medical information, medical operations, global publications,
advocacy, health economics and outcomes research, and more.
