Office 365
Trends
Adoption of Office
365 Services
Continues to Grow
Email migration projects are mostly done.
Migrating file sharing to SharePoint and OneDrive is
our area of greatest Office 365 project growth.*
Office 365 for Single Sign-On (SSO) services is “second.”
Microsoft Teams adoption is coming.
*Not counting Multifactor Authentication (MFA) implementations
Office 365
Licensing:
A Moving
Target
• The 50 free EM+S licenses benefit
disappeared.
• Microsoft 365 Business is a new
SKU we recommend.
• One way or another, plan to license
Office Desktop Suite through Office
365 subscriptions.
Office 365
An Opportunity to
Improve Security
• SSO
• MFA
• DLP
• Intune
• ATP
File Server -> Office 365
Migrations are Getting Easier
The Microsoft provided SharePoint Migration Tool is good
enough for most cases.
Adoption is relatively easy.
Some pain points remain:
• Excel file paths longer than 218 characters are a problem
• Hyperlinks between Excel workbooks are sometimes an issue
• Interactions with hosted legacy systems (Raiser’s Edge, Great
Plains, etc.) can require workarounds
Large scale reorganization of existing SharePoint architecture
still calls for 3rd party tools
Microsoft
Teams
“Outlook for teams”
Replacement for Zoom (adding
callback numbers is inexpensive)
Replacement for Slack

Questions?

2020 Nonprofit Technology Trends Roundtable

Editor's Notes

  • #8 What is DT? –Is not how do you define digital? It is how YOU define digital… define what’s important for your organizations right now… spectrum… Is the organization ready for C/DT? –culture, processes… measuring success Digital transformation marks a radical rethinking of how an organization uses technology, people and processes to fundamentally change business performance
  • #22 It’s where people can come together in a digital forum to have casual conversations, work on content, create work plans, integrated all within one unified experience. Designed to facilitate real-time conversations and collaboration, while maintaining and building up that institutional knowledge of a team. Just like Outlook brought together email, contacts, calendar, into this one magical user experience scaffolding that changed how we work, Microsoft Teams will bring together chat, meetings, notes, Office, Planner, Power BI and a host of other ecosystem-developed extensions and applications to help teams get work done. -Satya Nadella Registration Question – “Also, what are nonprofits using for an intranet?”
  • #24 Registration Question - “Concerns about computer data breaches & apparent inability to prevent cyber attacks & ransomware; both inhouse & cloud systems”
  • #28 Next webinar:  Does your organization need a better technology roadmap? Presented by Build Consulting Partner Peter Mirrus Tuesday February 25th from 1-2pm  Short description: You may have gaps in leadership, operations, business process, and data management capacity that have prevented your organization from effectively selecting and implementing technologies to serve your entire organization and its mission.
