The 2013 Annual Report of the Florida Department of Children and Families highlights accomplishments across the state in improving outcomes for children and families. KidWorks is a non-profit organization that aims to restore at-risk neighborhoods in Santa Ana, one life at a time. In the 2013-2014 school year:
- Over 900 volunteers donated over 15,000 hours as tutors, mentors, and more.
- 62 fathers completed the Responsible Fatherhood Program and 130 parents participated in regular training.
- 81% of K-5th grade students improved literacy and 100% of preschoolers were assessed as kindergarten-ready.
- 96% of high school graduates enrolled in college/university and 100% of 12th graders graduated high school.

GYSD 2011 Final Report Overview
Global Youth Service Day in 2011 engaged over 550,000 youth volunteers in 3,502 projects across 102 countries. Over $1 million in grants were distributed to support these projects. Some notable projects included students in Minnesota organizing a service event at the Mall of America and over 5,000 university students in South America building housing for families affected by natural disasters. Planning has already begun for Global Youth Service Day in 2012.

Three women founded Child Support Link in 2007 to help families in Virginia that were not receiving the $2.6 billion owed in unpaid child support. Their goal was to improve the quality of life for children through advocacy and education programs. Child Support Link provides free and confidential assistance to custodial parents on collecting child support and offers temporary financial assistance through Christmas and school programs for families in select counties. The nonprofit relies on donations to continue its services.

Gulf Chemical & Metallurgical Corp. donated 10 tablet computers and $7,560 to the Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County. The tablets will allow club directors to track student progress and be used for homework help. The funding will cover the cost of an additional afterschool counselor, allowing the club to increase capacity from 75 to 100 students. Gulf Chemical reached out to the Boys & Girls Club through United Way of Brazoria County to support education in the local community. The donation will help the club better serve students and allow more children to participate in quality afterschool programs.

For the Kid in all of us
For the Kid in All of Us is a non-profit organization that collects donations of toys, school supplies, and gifts to distribute to underprivileged children in Georgia. Their mission is to brighten the lives of needy children through annual collection events and distributing items to partner organizations that serve this community. They have provided over 22,000 toys and $435,000 in donations to organizations like Easter Seals of North Georgia, AID Atlanta, YouthPride, and Sheltering Arms for Kids.

Two students from Trinidad State Junior College's Valley and Trinidad campuses, Danielle Armstrong and Shane Boice, were honored as "Rising Stars" by the Colorado Community College System for their academic and leadership accomplishments. Danielle is vice president of the student government association and represents Colorado students on national committees. Shane is studying gunsmithing and helps improve campus life through activities and student government involvement. Both students are praised for their hard work and commitment to their education and communities.

Prevent Blindness Texas provides vision screenings, eye exams, and eyeglasses to adults and children across Texas. In the past year, they screened over 35,000 individuals and provided services to over 8,000. Their funding comes from individual donors, foundations, and grants which allow them to continue their mission of preventing blindness and preserving sight.

In 2007, 4C served over 27,000 children through programs like Head Start, Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten, and child care referrals. 4C is committed to empowering communities and preparing children for school through quality care and education programs.
