The document discusses teaching methodology in the English classroom. It addresses 8 questions: 1) What is methodology? 2) What should teachers consider when teaching? 3) How can teachers use textbooks? 4) What are learners like? 5) Should teachers work with the four skills? 6) What should teachers consider for each skill? 7) Who monitors students? 8) What can teachers use technology for? For each question, the document provides explanations and considerations for developing an effective English teaching methodology.
The document discusses best practices for teaching vocabulary in a foreign language classroom. It recommends sequencing vocabulary instruction from visual aids to definitions to use in context. The document stresses that vocabulary must be taught systematically and not just as a supplement to grammar. It also emphasizes providing opportunities for students to practice, learn, store, recall and use new vocabulary after initial introduction in order to fully learn the words. Finally, it notes the importance of distinguishing between vocabulary for receptive recognition and productive use when planning classroom activities and lessons.
This document provides teaching materials for familiarizing IELTS test takers with writing Task 2 questions. It includes activities to analyze sample questions, brainstorm ideas and structure responses. For the first sample question about caring for old people, the procedure has students work individually and in groups to generate ideas on both sides of the issue. They arrange these ideas logically then complete a worksheet practicing this type of discursive writing. A second sample question on children's leisure time is then used to repeat similar brainstorming and outlining steps. Worksheets provide guidance on common structures for organizing disagree/agree responses. The goal is to help students understand what is required for IELTS Task 2 writing and to practice key components like outlining arguments
This document discusses criticisms of task-based language teaching (TBLT) and attempts to address misconceptions about it. It notes that while TBLT has received support, it has also faced considerable criticism. However, criticisms often assume TBLT is a single method when it is actually a broad approach. The document outlines differences between various proposals for TBLT and argues they have been mischaracterized as not including grammar, not suitable for beginners, or entirely learner-centered. It also discusses problems implementing TBLT in Asia, such as teachers' limited proficiency and traditional roles, structural constraints, and students' orientation to learning. Overall, the document advocates for addressing issues in implementing TBLT rather than
This document provides guidance and suggestions for teaching speaking activities in a CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) classroom. It discusses challenges teachers and learners face with speaking, such as students not using English or being disruptive. It then offers solutions like practicing fluency through information gap activities and accuracy through controlled drills. The document also provides tips for error correction, maximizing English use, and creating a supportive classroom climate.

The document discusses the present perfect tense in English. It defines the present perfect as having two parts: a past participle and the helping verb "have". It then lists the three main uses of the present perfect tense: 1) something that started in the past and continues now, 2) indefinite past action with unspecified time, and 3) repeated past action that could happen again. It provides examples for each use and discusses key words that are used with the present perfect tense like "already", "never", and "ever".

partout. Il fallut deux jours aux pompiers
pour dégager le corps de Thierry, enseveli
sous plusieurs mètres cube de
décombres. Bien entendu, la police établit
facilement la nature de l’attentat. Par
contre, personne n’en comprit les
mobiles. Yvonne pas plus que les autres.
16. Spreekvaardigheid:
De theorie: Neuner (1)
• Fase A: aanbieden van taalmiddelen
(semantiseringsfase)
• Fase B: inslijpen van taalmiddelen
(consolideringsfase)
• Fase C: gestuurde productie
• Fase D: vrije productie
17. Spreekvaardigheid:
De theorie: Neuner (2)

Leerling A Leerling B
- Begroet leerling B. - Groet terug.
21. Spreekvaardigheid: Information gap:
Met een ‘information gap’ wordt
bedoeld dat leerling A niet weet
over welke informatie leerling B
beschikt en omgekeerd. Door
vragen te stellen kan deze kloof
overbrugd worden.
22. Spreekvaardigheid: Voorbereiding:
• Kijk eerst welke grammatica en welk
vocabulaire de leerlingen nodig hebben.
• Verwerk deze zaken aan het begin van de les.
• Oefen eerst klassikaal waarbij er sprake is van
een ‘ information gap’.
• Vraag deze informatie terug.
• Laat leerlingen nu in groepjes oefenen.
24. Spreekvaardigheid (1)
