The XBRL US Challenge was an 8-month competition that promoted the use of XBRL data from the SEC. 84 registrants participated by submitting 15 completed applications, with 5 selected as finalists. The $20,000 award was sponsored by WRDS, CFA Institute, and XBRL US. Finalists included tools that enabled access and analysis of SEC XBRL filings for investors, normalized XBRL data extraction for Excel, and online XBRL analytics platforms.
