The World Youth Report 2013—Youth Migration and Development is the product of the efforts, contributions and support of many people and organizations. From the outset, the process of developing the Report involved a range of participatory
consultations designed to draw on the perspectives of youth on how migration affects them. These consultative sessions
included a five-week e-consultation process, a survey on youth migration and development, a call for visual art
illustrating the daily life experiences of young migrants as well as youth initiatives on migration and development,
and a Google+ Hangout held on 6 March 2013 to identify sustainable solutions for addressing youth migration challenges.

State of the World´s Volunteerism Report , launched on Dec 5th 2011 by UNVolunteers, UN. I participated the regional consultation in Buenos Ayres, Feb 2011.
Understanding Risk (UR) is a community of more than 2,600 leading experts and practitioners in disaster risk assessment from around the world. Members of the community include representatives of government agencies, multilateral organizations, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, academia, community-based organizations, and civil society.
Every two years, the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) convenes the UR Community at UR Forums. Forums are “state of the art” events that showcase best practices and the latest technical know-how in risk assessment. UR provides partners with the opportunity to highlight new activities and initiatives, build new partnerships, and further foster advances in the field.
UR is a community of global experts in the field of disaster risk assessment. UR community members share knowledge and experience, collaborate, and discuss innovation and best practice in risk assessment. This Community convenes every two years at UR Forums.
The first UR Forum was held in Washington D.C. in June 2010. Since then the world has witnessed high impact disasters and extreme events that have changed the way we understand disaster risk. UR 2012, held in Cape Town, July 2-6, convened 500 risk assessment experts from more than 86 countries to address this challenge, underscoring the importance of integrating disaster risk management (DRM) and climate change adaptation (CCA) as a core element of development.
Organized in partnership with the Government of South Africa and the European Union (EU), UR 2012 showcased new tools for decision–makers, strengthened regional and global partnerships, and built technical capacity in the Africa region through a series of training events.
The UR Community of Practice remains a unique platform for incubating innovation and forging partnerships
and will continue to work collaboratively to build resiliency to disaster risk in the future.
Transforming Mosques Into a Containment Space During Natural Disasters; Brows...Hayder Haraty
Mosques around the world have been serving the Muslim community for religious and social purposes since the beginning of Islam. Mosques have played an important role to educate and create a peaceful yet proper cosmos for its visitors. However, nowadays, mosques are not only used for its educational component, but on occasion have been transformed into places to serve multi-ethnic and multi- religious communities during natural disasters. This paper is an attempt to surf through the recent publications that discuss natural disas- ters and the containment of such incidents. Four case studies have been presented to draw a picture of a mosque’s role before, during and after natural disasters. Although many researchers have investigated this role, there still is an urgent need to understand the several ex- amples of cases globally and the issues the researchers have dealt with in such incidents. Selected papers have been reviewed to study the conclusions found in the most recent publications in this field. The aim of this paper is to find out the missing aspects and the gap in the literature for the purpose of future studies and designs.
Congratulations to the 2016 AEC Excellence Awards finalists! We received a record number of submissions this year, and the projects chosen by our panel of judges as finalists truly represent the future of making things for AEC.

UNESCO World Report : Investing in Cultural Diversity and Intercultural DialogueDavid Vicent
Culture plays a very special role within UNESCO’s mandate. Not only does it represent a specifi c fi eld of activities, encompassing the safeguarding
and promoting of heritage in all its forms (both tangible and intangible), encouraging creativity (particularly in the cultural industries), and facilitating
mutual understanding through intercultural dialogue, it also permeates all UNESCO’s fi elds of competence. It is therefore a source of satisfaction
that this cross-cutting relevance of culture should be underlined with the publication of this second volume in the series of UNESCO intersectoral
world reports, devoted to cultural diversity. 2009
