This document summarizes a workshop on applying Empathizing-Systemizing Theory to design thinking. It discusses how: 1) Empathizing-Systemizing Theory can provide a framework for understanding differences in design thinking methodology. Specifically, empathizing relates to the empathy phase, systemizing relates to the rationality phase, and creativity requires both styles. 2) A study was conducted that mapped design preferences to Empathizing and Systemizing Quotients. Results could help education by developing new teaching approaches and help valuation by quantifying different cognitive contributions. 3) A second phase methodology was developed to further survey correlations between quotients and skills, with implications for design/engineering education and fields of psychology/
